📮 Whoever dies and owes a debt, then his intention

This questioner, whose name was symbolized by Laila, says: I have a grandfather who died ten years ago, and he owes a debt of a large amount, and he has several wives, including sons and daughters, but he has not paid his debt until now, knowing that his children do not have the ability to pay off the debt, not because they are young, but because they are incapacitated. Material, what is the fate of this grandfather in terms of Sharia? Is he guilty? Are the children guilty? Is it true that he will be held accountable for his actions until he pays off his debts?

Answer:

Sheikh: If this deceased had money that could be collected from, then the heirs must hasten to pay off his debt, and if he did not have money, then the heirs have nothing to do. For God Almighty says: {And no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another}, and as for the dead, if he took people’s money with the intention of performing it, God paid on his behalf, and if he took it with the intention of destroying it, God spoiled him, then it is according to his intention, if the man took people’s money with the intention of paying, but things were broken. He could not, for God Almighty pays off his debt, and satisfies his debtors, and he does not suffer any sin or sin in that, and if he had bad intentions, he took people’s money to play with it and did not want to pay it, then God Almighty destroys it and punishes him for that.
