Ephesians Chapter 6 – Strength for the Battle

1. Living Out God’s Order at Home and Work (v. 1–9) Paul continues his teaching from chapter 5, showing that spirituality is not limited to church life, it must reflect in our homes and workplaces.

Children and Parents (vv. 1–4)

> “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother’… that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

Paul reminds children that obedience is not just a moral duty but a spiritual act of honoring God. Parents, especially fathers, are to raise their children “in the training and admonition of the Lord,” not provoking them to anger.

Lesson: God’s blessing rests upon homes where love, respect, and godly discipline prevail.

Servants and Masters (v. 5–9) In Paul’s day, “servants” referred to bondservants or workers. His message applies today to employers and employees.

> “Whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord.”

Servants should serve sincerely as to Christ, not only when watched.
Masters are to treat their servants justly, knowing they also have a Master in heaven.

Lesson: Whether leading or serving, we do all as unto the Lord. Work becomes worship when done with a sincere heart.

2. The Armor of God (v. 10–18) Now Paul shifts from home life to the spiritual battlefield.

> “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”

He reminds us that we are not wrestling against people but against spiritual forces of evil, principalities, powers, and rulers of darkness.
To stand firm, we must “put on the whole armor of God.”

The Six Pieces of God’s Armor:

1. The Belt of Truth – Hold everything together with honesty and God’s Word. Truth keeps us stable and guards us from deception.

2. The Breastplate of Righteousness – Protect your heart with the righteousness of Christ. Our right standing with God keeps us bold before the enemy.

3. The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace – Walk ready to share the good news. Peace with God makes us fearless and steady in every situation.

4. The Shield of Faith – Quench every fiery dart of doubt, fear, or temptation. Faith deflects the enemy’s attacks and keeps us standing.

5. The Helmet of Salvation – Guard your mind with the assurance of salvation. Confidence in God’s saving power keeps your thoughts anchored in victory.

6. The Sword of the Spirit – The Word of God, our only offensive weapon. Jesus used this sword when He said, “It is written.” The Word defeats lies.

And above all — Prayer! (v. 18)

> “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”

Prayer keeps our armor active. A prayerless soldier is a powerless one. We are called to pray with perseverance and intercede for all saints.

Lesson: Victory in spiritual warfare comes through divine strength, not human effort. The armor must be worn daily through faith and prayer.

3. Paul’s Closing Words (v. 19–24) Paul requests prayer for himself, not for comfort or release from prison, but for boldness to proclaim the gospel. He ends with a blessing:

> “Peace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity.”

Lesson: The heart of a mature believer seeks not ease, but effectiveness for Christ.

✨ Reflection: Ephesians ends on a victorious note, reminding us that we are not helpless. We are equipped, empowered, and enlisted in God’s army. Our strength is in Christ, and our victory is already secured in Him.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, clothe me daily in Your armor. Strengthen me to stand firm against every attack of the enemy. Let truth, righteousness, faith, and Your Word be my defense and weapon. May I walk in victory and bring glory to Your name. Amen.

Yay! It's 10 years, already!

Today we lift our voices in thankfulness to God for the last 10 years. By his mercies alone have we made it this far.

It's been 10 years of hardwork, resilience and doggedness!

Of building a community of learners, instructors and parents!

Of hands-on research and unending learning!

Of great results, victories and sometimes setbacks!

Of building great friendships and lasting bonds!

Of laughter and silent tears!

Of betrayals and of optimum support!

Through harsh government policies and a staggering pandemic, we are here today, standing tall.

Our team of teachers each session have been second to none, always striving to see that learners do not remain the same.

Our parents, demonstrating commitment and absolute trust, even in the face of daunting challenges.

Our Alumni, doing great things and achieving great feats, because they learnt from the best!

We thank everyone who has been a part of this journey and we pray that in life, you never journey alone.

As we look ahead, into the future, we see clearly that the sky is only the beginning because THE LORD OF HOSTS IS WITH US, THE GOD OF JACOB IS OUR REFUGE!

DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING

Over the years, we have observed that each session brings a different set of individuals into the same classroom.

Sometimes we have a set of learners at almost the same cognitive level and ability.

At other times, we have a mix of learners at different levels even where they are in the same age bracket.

How then do we ensure that learning takes place, despite these differences?

DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING!
This simply means tailoring instructions to meet individual needs.
This might be impossible to achieve without the right plan in place. Teachers might not be able carry everyone along without strategy and support.

So what do we do, as a school?
✓At entry, we determine where the child is at- with age and previous class

✓We follow each child, monitor his/her progress( call it some sort of needs assessment)

✓Where Children need extra intervention, we cull a specialized kind of scheme of work in that subject area

✓Sometimes we knock off certain subjects to make out time for this intervention

✓We never leave the work to the teacher alone so we can maintain effectiveness.

✓We never give up on any child- we know that the pace at which they learn differs.

✓We carry parents along and encourage them to give each child time to come around.(this is the hardest part😁😁. Everyone wants instant result)

It's that season, when we recall and reflect on what we have been doing.

Proper Child School has been taking competitions seriously. Why? Because we always like to know where we are at. We do not also want the children to carry a sense of achievement that has not been tested!
