HARDNESS of HEART

1.Jesus made a diagnosis of difficulty in marriage as HARDNESS of HEART which the Old Covenant could not deal with.
Matthew 19:8: Jesus replied “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.
2. It is therefore inferred that once you are born again this HARDNESS of HEART can be dealt with.
3 What is the hardness of the heart ; EGO, SELF, Stubbornness and selfishness. In modern parlance it manifests as FEMINISM and PATRIARCHY.
4. Our discipleship manuals do not touch these issues deeply hence the reasons for a lot of marital problems.
5. Hebrews 4:12-13
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.
6. What Jesus meant here is that the state of your mind reflects your spiritual maturity and marriage is the surest most practical litmus test.

1 Timothy 3:5-7
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
