Onitsha Business School (OBS) is an initiative designed to harness appropriate educational resources to develop and train the massive pool of commercial, industrial and entrepreneurial talents in and around the commercial city of Onitsha. While its establishment has been triggered by the peculiar and specific needs of the city and Anambra state,Nigeria in particular, its focus and mission is to become a widely acclaimed Centre of educational excellence delivering a strategically crafted range of leadership, vocational and business related academic, professional and skills based programs to a selected category of prospective students. OBS has its administrative nucleus in Onitsha but in line with its community based philosophy, has 3 operational study centers in the three commercial cities of Anambra state: Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka. The school curriculum is structured to take the students beyond the traditional western concept of classroom academics, to understand and embrace the practical realities of the business world in a defining environment. Apart from the traditional basic academic courses, many courses in OBS are based around skills already acquired practically in the market place. They are deliberately focused on husbanding and giving free reign to indigenous and innate creative talents of students, and will adapted, taught and developed in 3 OBS centers custom fit for cooperation with the vast commercial, industrial and entrepreneurial base in the state.
