NO TEXTBOOK, NO SUCCESS!
Many times, students come into my chat and tell me they are finding Organic Chemistry difficult. When I ask a simple question — “Do you have a Chemistry textbook?” — the answer is often “No.”
That response always surprises me.
How can a student preparing for important examinations like JAMB, WAEC, or NECO not have at least the core subject textbooks related to their area of study?
Textbooks are not luxuries — they are essential tools for academic success.
During my own secondary school days, things were not easy either. At a time when I lived with guardians, I sometimes saved my lunch money just to buy the textbooks I needed. Why? Because I understood that having the right materials was an investment in my future.
Today, many students struggle not necessarily because they are incapable, but because they lack the right academic resources. Organic Chemistry, like many challenging topics, becomes clearer and easier when studied with a well-structured textbook that explains concepts step-by-step, provides worked examples, and offers practice questions.
Serious preparation requires serious materials.
If you are preparing for major examinations, make it a priority to own textbooks for your core subjects — whether in *hard copy* or *soft* *copy* .
A textbook allows you to:
▪️Study beyond classroom teaching
▪️Revise at your own pace
▪️Practice consistently
▪️Build deeper understanding
▪️Gain confidence before examinations
Parents also have a crucial role to play.
Planning for your child’s academic success should include budgeting for essential textbooks. Whether *physical books* or *digital copies* , providing these materials equips children with the foundation they need to excel.
Education is an investment, not an expense.
If we truly desire academic excellence, we must first ensure that the basic tools for success are in place.
A student without textbooks is like a builder without tools — progress becomes unnecessarily difficult
