When a paper is too technical or full of jargon, it limits its audience and impact.

Researchers often cite what they quickly grasp and find useful, not what takes hours to decode.

Clarity doesn’t mean oversimplifying things—it means explaining your ideas in a way that sticks.

If you want your work to spread, aim for simplicity with depth, not complexity for show.

Academic CV is the most important document in any funded Graduate school pursuit.

Academic CV is not same as work CV.

Academic CV differs with country in style and content.

Academic CV contains just your Tertiary Education details. No secondary or primary school details.

Academic CV does not have space for date of birth, gender, state of origin, number of children, hobbies and chieftaincy titles.

Academic CV only includes languages that are international and transactional. Not Orobo, Annang, Efik or kuli kuli.

The five most important parts of an academic CV are;
- Personal details (Begin from your name)
- Education
- Research Interest
- Experiences (Research, Teaching and Professional in that order)
- Volunteering and community service.

The other parts that makes it up are; skills, scholarship and publication, professional affiliations, referees.

If you have not been able to get an academic CV by now, you are not really serious about this graduate school pursuit as an international student.

It is a new year, let's work with purpose to achieve our goals.

These things hit hard when you're already in the middle of your research.

It can feel incredibly lonely—you spend so much time in your own head that you start doubting yourself.

Then there's the lie of "I'm almost done," which you’ll tell yourself again and again, only to face more revisions that stretch things out longer.

And perhaps the hardest part is how research quietly erodes your confidence, making you question whether you’re smart enough or even cut out for this.

These struggles are real, but they don’t mean you're doing it wrong.
They just mean you're doing research.
You're not alone, and you’re doing better than you think.
