Yala Matrix Schools Invests Seventh Set of Prefects, Charges Them to Lead with Discipline, Excellence
Prefects donate media equipment for digital renaissance
Yala Matrix Schools, Okitipupa, Ondo State, has inaugurated its seventh set of student leaders for the 2026/2027 academic session, charging the newly invested prefects to lead by example and uphold discipline, integrity and academic excellence.
Twenty-two prefects were formally decorated, sworn in and inaugurated at a colourful investiture ceremony held on Friday, July 24, 2026. The event attracted the attention of the Board of Directors, ably led by Engineer Sam Ayadi-Yala, Management, Executives and members of the Parents-Teachers Society (PTS), as well as parents, staff, students, pupils and other invited guests.
The ceremony was conducted by the Principal, Mr Manuwa Peteinu Daniel, assisted by the Head Teacher of the Model College, Mr Asogbon Matthew Olumide and Dame Adekuoroye Folasade Abilogun -Head Teacher, Pre/Nursery/Primary School. The occasion also featured the symbolic decoration of the new prefects by their predecessors, marking the formal transfer of leadership responsibilities.
In his charge, the Principal reminded the newly inaugurated prefects that their positions were not merely titles but responsibilities entrusted to them by the school. He urged them to lead with humility, discipline, fairness and integrity, stressing that leadership was about service and setting the right example.
"Leadership is not about being above others; it is about serving others and setting the right example. From today, your actions, words and decisions will be watched by other students. Let your conduct reflect the values of Yala Matrix Schools," he said.
Mr Manuwa advised the prefects to respect school authorities, teachers, parents and fellow students, warning them against abusing the authority entrusted to them. He charged them to work with staff and students to maintain peace, discipline and orderliness, while balancing their leadership responsibilities with academic excellence, punctuality and good character.
Speaking after his investiture, the Senior Prefect (Boy), Master Akinloye Oluwanifemi Solomon, thanked the management and students for their confidence in the new leadership team. He pledged to work with the administration to promote discipline, academic excellence and cooperation.
The Senior Prefect (Girl), Miss Arowojolu-Alagwe Daniella Oritsegheyinmi, appreciated the management and parents for supporting the leadership programme, promising that students would be carried along in decisions affecting them, with greater attention to the welfare of female students.
The Prefects Coordinator, Mr Ogungbemi Adeyemi Orimisan, commended the management for investing in student leadership and for giving the prefects opportunities to develop skills and prepare for future responsibilities.
As part of their contribution to the continued development of the school, the prefects donated media equipment to support more effective, organised and impactful digital media activities in the next academic session.
The gesture, according to the organisers, is expected to strengthen the school's digital communication and publicity efforts and usher in a new phase of digital renaissance within the school community.
The 22 prefects are: Ezekiel Eliot Eniola, Social Prefect (Boy); Aladetan Dorcas, Chapel Prefect (Girl); Akinloye Oluwanifemi Solomon, Senior Prefect (Boy); Akinloye Oluwatobiloba, Academics and Library Prefect; Ikuejawa Hannah, Health Prefect (Girl); Allen Glorious, Agriculture and Labour Prefect (Boy); Aribo Praise, Assistant Senior Prefect (Girl); Akinsanmi Alexander, Games/Sports Prefect (Boy); Everehite Anita, Health Prefect (Girl); Ayadi Testimony, Games/Sports Prefect (Girl); and Arowojolu-Alagwe Daniella Oritsegheyinmi, Senior Prefect (Girl).
Others are Semudara Samuel, Assistant Senior Prefect (Boy); Manuwa Rita, Laboratory Prefect (Girl); Ebietomiye John, Laboratory Prefect (Boy); Odofin Happiness, Agriculture and Labour Prefect (Boy); Iperepolu Adedoyin, Health Prefect (Boy); Orire Omawaire, Chapel Prefect (Girl); Ogunsemoyin Ayomide, Academics and Library Prefect; Adeji Isreal, Chapel Prefect (Boy); Ojonla Titilope, Social Prefect (Girl); Bolakale Oluwajomiloju, Time-Keeper; and Loto Daniel, Time-Keeper.
The management urged the new leaders to justify the confidence reposed in them by leading with integrity, responsibility and discipline, while serving as positive role models throughout their tenure.
