STATEMENT FROM SKILL UP THE TEENAGERS INITIATIVE
The Skill Up The Teenagers Initiative rejoices with the released students, teachers, their families, and everyone who stood in prayers and hope throughout this difficult period. Their safe return is truly a deserving moment of celebration and gratitude to God.
As an initiative committed to the growth, safety, and future of young people, we suspended all our activities in solidarity with the victims, believing that an attack on any student is an attack on the future we are working to build.
We sincerely thank God for preserving the lives of everyone who was rescued. We also appreciate the efforts of all those who contributed to making their release possible.
However, this moment should also serve as a reminder to our governments at all levels.
Our appeal to the Federal and State Governments is that this should not merely be a moment of celebration. Rather, it should strengthen the resolve to confront insecurity with greater urgency.
The true victory is not only in rescuing kidnapped victims but in creating a society where students can go to school without fear, teachers can perform their duties safely, and parents can send their children to school with confidence.
The protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government. We therefore urge our leaders to take decisive and sustained actions that will prevent future occurrences and restore confidence in the safety of our schools and communities.
Once again, we celebrate with the released students, teachers, their families, and the entire community.
Every child deserves to learn in safety. Every teacher deserves to teach without fear.
