UNIOFFA to Host Second Inaugural Lecture July 29

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Offa, Professor Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade, FNCS, FCILG, FPAN, invites the public to the 2nd Inaugural Lecture of the University titled "The Broken Social Contract: A Scholar's Critical Perspective on Tax Obligation, State Legitimacy and the Crisis of Development."

The lecture will be delivered by Professor Kareem Adeyimika Adedokun, NCE (Ilesha), LL.B (Ilorin), LL.M, Ph.D (A.B.U., Zaria), Professor of Tax Law and Enforcement Policy in the Department of Business Law, Faculty of Law, University of Offa, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the University Auditorium.

The second inaugural lecture will be another platform to advance intellectual discourse, research excellence and the pursuit of practical solutions to contemporary national and global challenges through scholarship and knowledge sharing.

1. Minimum UTME score of 150.
2. Five (5) credit passes in WASSCE, NECO, NABTEB or GCE O'Level, obtained in not more than two sittings.
3. Direct Entry candidates must possess two A' Level passes in IJMB, JUPEB or Cambridge A' Level.

Candidates awaiting the release of their O'Level results are also eligible to apply for the Diploma Programme.

[PHOTOS] UNIOFFA Holds Maiden Inaugural Lecture

The University of Offa (UNIOFFA), Kwara State, on Wednesday, June 25, 2026 recorded another landmark achievement in its journey towards academic excellence as it successfully hosted its maiden inaugural lecture.

The event further reinforced the varsity's commitment to scholarship, research, innovation, and national development.

The historic lecture, titled "Communication Development, Creating Wealth: Nigerian Media, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and National Growth," was delivered by distinguished Professor of Mass Communication, Prof. Adegoke Akeem Raufu (ARPA, MNPR, FCPA, FSL, FCAI) of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences.

The event attracted an impressive gathering of academics, administrators, industry experts, security personnel, development practitioners, students, and distinguished guests from across Nigeria; all united in celebrating a significant milestone in the University's academic history.

In his thought-provoking presentation, Prof. Raufu emphasized the critical role of communication in driving entrepreneurship, innovation, wealth creation, and sustainable national development.

He advocated greater collaboration among governments, media organisations, educational institutions, development agencies, entrepreneurs, and citizens to build a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem capable of transforming Nigeria's economic landscape.

The inaugural lecturer highlighted the need for strategic deployment of traditional media, community media, mass media, and digital communication platforms in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.

He further recommended stronger partnerships between educational institutions, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), the Bank of Industry (BOI), the National Orientation Agency (NOA), non-governmental organisations, and other stakeholders in fostering wealth creation opportunities for Nigerians.

Prof. Raufu also called for increased emphasis on practical skills acquisition, entrepreneurship education, and industry exposure for students as a pathway to producing future employers of labour and wealth creators.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Offa, Professor Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade said the lecture is a landmark contribution to knowledge and a reflection of the high academic standards that define the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor formally commended and celebrated Prof. Raufu's scholarly accomplishments.

He declared that: "In recognition of your remarkable scholarship and successful delivery of the maiden inaugural lecture of the prestigious University of Offa, and in recognition of your landmark contribution to knowledge and to the academic community of the University of Offa, we accept you to be a true scholar and a Professor of Mass Communication. Congratulations."

Professor Gbolagade noted that the successful hosting of the maiden inaugural lecture further demonstrates the University's growing reputation as a centre of excellence dedicated to producing world-class graduates and impactful research.

"Today's lecture has once again demonstrated the quality of intellectual resources available at the University of Offa. These are the calibre of scholars shaping the minds of our students and contributing meaningfully to national discourse and development," he said.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Founder of the University, Dr. Rasaq Omoniyi Oyewale, Chief Babalaje of Offaland, for his visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the institution.

He also acknowledged the support of the Chancellor of the University and Olofa of Offa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Oloyede Okikiola Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I, the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Goke Lalude, members of the Governing Council, principal officers, deans, directors, heads of departments, staff, and students whose collective efforts continue to position the University for greater achievements.

The successful delivery of the maiden inaugural lecture marks another significant step in UNIOFFA's pursuit of academic distinction, innovation, morality, and integrity. UNIOFFA Records 100% Success In The NUC Verification Exercise

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval to The University of Offa (UNIOFFA), Kwara State to commence the following programmes: Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Doctor of Physiotherapy and Community Health starting from the 2026/2027 session.

This followed the successful hosting of a delegation from the Commission for a comprehensive resource verification exercise on Monday, April 13, 2026.

The approval was conveyed in a letter dated June 16, 2026, and signed by the Director of Academic Planning of the National Universities Commission, Abubakar M. Girei.

This approval further reaffirms the varsity's commitment to providing quality education and meeting the Commission's academic standards.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Offa, Professor Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade, expressed delight at the outcome and congratulated the University's Founder, Governing Council, management, staff, students, and stakeholders.

He stated that the achievement is a testament to the institution's commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and continuous investment in human and material resources.

He reaffirmed the University's determination to sustain high academic standards and to provide a conducive environment for teaching, learning, research, and innovation.

I warmly felicitate with our hardworking staff, dear students, and the entire Muslim Ummah as we usher in the Islamic New Year, 1st Muharram 1448 AH, which begins today, Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

The commencement of a new Hijri year offers an opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to noble values.

University of Offa Launches Maiden Issue of Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies (U-OJIS)

The Editorial Board of the Offa Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies (OJIS) is delighted to announce the successful publication of the inaugural issue of the journal, marking an important milestone in the academic, research, and staff development efforts of the University of Offa.

The maiden call for papers attracted an encouraging response from scholars and researchers across universities, polytechnics, colleges, research institutes, and government establishments within and outside Nigeria.

In total, forty-two (42) manuscripts were received from diverse disciplines spanning science, technology, computing, management sciences, arts, communication, education, and the social sciences.

Following a rigorous peer review process conducted by experienced scholars and subject specialists, twenty-three (23) manuscripts successfully met the journal’s quality requirements and were accepted for publication in Volume 1, Issue 1.

The Editorial Board particularly acknowledges the unwavering support of the Vice-Chancellor and Grand Patron of the Journal, Prof. Kazeem A. Gbolagade, whose commitment to academic excellence made the successful take-off of the journal possible. Through his support, several members of staff of the University of Offa benefited from research development and publication support initiatives aimed at strengthening research capacity, enhancing scholarly productivity, supporting staff development, and advancing academic excellence within the institution.

The Board is equally pleased to announce that the official journal website has been successfully developed and launched with the support of the University management.

The platform is now open for registration, article access, and engagement with the journal’s scholarly activities. The inaugural issue is currently available online for readers and researchers. The journal website can be accessed at: www.unioffajis.com.
