The Mechatronics research group, University of Nigeria Nsukka is poised to proffer holistic sustainable solutions and innovation through mechatronics research and development in energy systems across all areas, Automation, Education, Agriculture, Robotics etc. We also conduct consultancy services and training across Nigeria.

The research group has several research teams under its jurisdiction according to our areas of coverage. One of the teams is the Electric vehicle team.
The Electric vehicle team engages in electric vehicle research and development and has so far completed a project to that effect earlier in 2019.
With funding from the then school administration headed by Prof. Ozumba, the team built an all-electric vehicle ground-up using up to 80% local materials within a month. The Electric Vehicle is a functional prototype able to travel 30 km/hr for one hour with full five-seater capacity. The vehicle was officially unveiled in UNN on the 8th of July 2019. We hope to attract interested stakeholders for commercialization partnership.

We found out that most auto makers world over who are not already into electric vehicles production are rebranding their factories for electric vehicle manufacture and most automobile concept designs this year are all-electric powered. This is in the direction of keying into the global trend of GHG emission reduction and sustainable energy adoption.
