Contact 03: Causes Of Road Crashes
Have you ever wondered why there are so many crashes on the highway or express roads? Or how they occurred?. This crashes do not just happen on their own. Something or someone must have influenced it.That is why they happen. This crashes result in severe injuries,damages to lots of properties and loss of lives of "all categories of road users' and 'carriages'.
The Question is "who or what could be the cause and influence to this road crashes"?. This is what we term - "Factors of road crashes".
1. Human Factor. (85--90)%
2. Vehicle Factor.(7%)
3. Environmental Factor.(3%)

The Human Factor
(Drivers-85% and passengers-5%)

In the human factor the driver tends to predominantly influence most road crashes. this is because he decides the control, direction and manipulation of the carriages involved.hence only very few instances do passengers get scored.their reason are not far fetched
- Lack of proper knowledge of road sign , ethics and vehicle control.
- Negligence: willful disobedience to traffic laws, impatience, failure to use seat belt.
- State of mind: driving under drug influence, drunken driving, smoking, annoyance, dizziness,etc Lack of concentration, making phone calls,
- Overspeeding, wrongful overtaking, wrongful signal(blinkers), claiming right of way, speed competition, vehicle abuse, reckless driving.
- Medical challenges: Eye defect, hearing impairment, hypertension, epilepsy, diabetes, fatigue.

Course 02 : Qualities of a good driver
There are many drivers on our roads today but they are all of different categaories. While some are just driver, or bad drivers others are good drivers.
It is one thing to be a driver (able to move a vehicle - car, ''lorry or some sort''!) Not enough of course" than being a good driver'.😮
-....Tell me who is a good driver then?...what does it take to be a good driver?... and .How do you know 'I am a good drivers"?
1. OBEDIENCE - this is compliance to all road ethics, signs, and of course vehicle operational rules. This rules, signs and ethics are simple to understand and follow and can go a long way in keeping road free from road crashes if a little more of

2.HONESTY is added - A way of being truthful and sincere. Think of a driver on the highway who had just hurt another user at the expense of !???...maybe ...'impatience" . if he had being honest enough he'll had given priority to the other. This would go a long way..You can try a little of that this week....

3.OBSERVATION - for every theory to be accepted observation must be taken. As a driver you must watch, observ and take thought of every user, sign, ethics and control you catch up with while driving on the road as this will enable you build a proper and wise decision making skill (when to.. ..and how to..) while on road. A good observer hardly get into trouble even as a driver on the road.

4.ANTICIPATION - thinking ahead on what step or decision to take while well done of observing is what anticipation entails. This will help you to act in right sense when driving, ...and of course you must not run at a very high speed beyond totally conscious control of the vessel you are controlling either in a case of before a crash.think while, and anticipate when driving driver

5.COURAGE - it is good to know what to do how and when to do it but it also imperative to act! DO IT_
This is the willing to take to act the overly observed and prethoughtful steps and logic of achieving desired goal. Where there is a will says the old clitch ...there is a way!! As a driver you need to be courageous to drive both safe and proficiently to get to you desired destination. It also helps you to make quick decisions in other to escape crashes by carelessness or mistakes of other drivers or road users even at slim chances. Do not run into danger in place of risk taken. that is tantamount to false/bad courage you are to be of good courage

Do you know? The ten minutes to two way of handling the steering wheel is no more in use. This is because in a case of accident or car crash air bag burst open and both hands hit directly to the forehead of driver causing a severe cranial damage which could be fatal.
