THE PERSON WEARING THE DRESS IS PART OF THE DESIGN.
Have you ever seen a dress sit beautifully on someone and decide to replicate it for yourself, only to look out of place when you try it on?
Before you blame the tailor, wait first , make we talk.....The person wearing the dress is part of the final end result.
The most important of all is;
BODY SHAPE AND PROPORTIONS:
I was once visited by 2 ladies who wear same size (16). Whilst talking, one of them asked if I could replicate a well contured dress the other was wearing for her. I didn't hesitate before I turned down the request. WHY? the lady wearing the prototype design has endowments in the right proportions( hourglass shape).. while the lady looking to replicate has her upper body and shoulders noticeably wider( inverted triangle shape). I explained to her why its a bad idea and we ended up exploring other designs with silhouettes that flatter her shape. Understand your body and how to dress it well.
Other things to consider are:
• HEIGHT AND BODY FRAME
• SKIN TONE AND UNDERTONE
• AGE AND PERSONALITY.
LIFESTYLE AND PERSONAL SENSE OF STYLE
• POSTURE, CONFIDENCE AND COMFORT:
I believe choosing an outfit should go beyond seeing a beautiful picture and asking for a replica.
A good designer should consider the person who will wear the outfit, not just the picture they had brought.
Because the goal is not merely to recreate a beautiful outfit, It's to create a look that makes sense on YOU.
Tell me, have you ever love an outfit on someone else but changed your mind after trying it on yourself? I'd love to hear your experience.
By the way ...... Suzan Olabisi thank you for my 2 piece outfit.
