Deputy Governor Barr. Sam Ode Visits UNIPOD
The University Innovation Pod (UNIPOD) at Benue State University was honored to host the Deputy Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Barr. Sam Ode, yesterday, Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
His Excellency was warmly received at the UNIPOD facility by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Alabar, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Priscilla Utoo, alongside other esteemed members of the University Management.
The visit served as a critical on-site assessment of our facilities and a strategic review of current challenges. This high-level engagement underscores the State Government’s commitment to ensuring the UNIPOD becomes a premier hub for innovation and industrialization in the region.
Strategic Highlights of the Visit:
• Technical Assessment: The Deputy Governor was led on an extensive tour of the facility by the Focal Person on Equipment, Tar Sesugh. During the walkthrough, Tar Sesugh provided a detailed briefing on the high-end technology already installed and the progress of the final setup.
• Collaborative Problem-Solving: Detailed discussions were held regarding specific issues within the UNIPOD. His Excellency provided assurance of the government’s support in resolving these bottlenecks to ensure a seamless official launch.
• Multi-Stakeholder Synergy: Also in attendance were the Chairperson of the UNIPOD CPC, Prof. Ogbene Igbum, the UNIPOD Focal Person, Dr. Sylvester Gemanam, and the UNDP Focal Person, Mrs. Mary Ogoicho, highlighting the strong partnership between the University, the State, and the UNDP.
We are encouraged by the Deputy Governor’s proactive leadership and the collective support of the University Management. Together, we are clearing the path for a world-class center that will empower the next generation of Benue’s tech leaders and creatives.
