Weekend recap time:

DID YOU:

✅ Complete a practice test?

✅ Review your mistakes deeply?

✅ Practice speaking out loud?

✅ Learn new vocabulary actively?

✅ Do ANYTHING toward your goal?

BE BRUTALLY HONEST.

If you checked 3-5 boxes:

Excellent! You're outworking 90% of test-takers! Keep this momentum!

If you checked 1-2 boxes:

Okay start, but you need more consistency.

This week, aim for 4-5 boxes.

If you checked 0 boxes:

You wasted your weekend. AGAIN.

But here's what matters:

Last weekend is GONE.

This coming weekend (Feb 1-2) is your next shot.

Will you waste that one too, or finally show up?

Common grammar mistake that KILLS your score:

RUN-ON SENTENCES

❌ "Technology is important it helps people it makes life easier we should use it more."

This is FOUR sentences jammed together with NO punctuation!

HOW TO FIX:

Option 1 - Separate:

✅ "Technology is important. It helps people and makes life easier. We should use it more."

Option 2 - Coordinate:

✅ "Technology is important because it helps people, and we should use it more."

Option 3 - Subordinate:

✅ "Since technology is important and helps people, we should use it more."

THE RULE:

Every sentence needs:

• ONE main clause (at minimum)
• Proper punctuation
• Logical connectors if combining ideas

Master this. Sound educated!

Monday speaking reality:

You don't have a vocabulary problem.

You have a RETRIEVAL problem.

Proof:

You KNOW the word "enthusiastic."

But in the speaking test, you say "I really, really, really like it" instead.

Why?

Under pressure, your brain defaults to EASY words, not GOOD words.

THE FIX:

ACTIVE RECALL PRACTICE

This week, practice saying these OUT LOUD daily:

Instead of "really like" → "I'm enthusiastic about..."

Instead of "very tired" → "I'm exhausted..."

Instead of "very good" → "It's exceptional..."

Your mouth needs to PRACTICE these words, not just your brain knowing them!

Record yourself.

Force yourself to use sophisticated vocabulary.

Make it AUTOMATIC!

IELTS Writing Task 2 - The THESIS STATEMENT mistake:

WEAK thesis (Band 5-6):

"In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my opinion."

Why it's weak:

• States the obvious (examiner already knows the format!)

• Adds zero value

• Wastes precious words

STRONG thesis (Band 7-8):

"While technology offers undeniable convenience, I believe the social costs of reduced human interaction outweigh these benefits."

Why it's strong:

✅ States YOUR position clearly
✅ Previews your main argument
✅ Shows critical thinking
✅ Sets up your essay structure

Your introduction should INFORM, not just announce!

Make every word count!

Good morning! It's Monday, January 26th, 2026.

Week 4 of the year. Almost a full month gone.

Let me ask you THE question:

Are you closer to your target band than you were on January 1st?

Not "did you think about studying."

Not "did you watch tips videos."

Not "did you plan to start."

Did you actually PRACTICE?

Did you actually IMPROVE?

If the honest answer is NO...

Then you've wasted 4 weeks of 2026.

But here's the gift:

You still have 48 weeks left.

This week can be different.

Not "next week." THIS week.

Not "when I feel ready."

STARTING TODAY.

What will you do in the next hour to prove you're serious? ⏰

Friday vocabulary upgrade:

✅ Additionally, Furthermore, Moreover, Similarly, Likewise, Equally important

Instead of "But":

Instead of "So":

PTE test-takers - Friday wisdom:

"Describe Image" - What the AI actually scores:

CONTENT (0-5 points): Did you mention key elements?

FORM (0-5 points): Did you speak for 35-40 seconds?

PRONUNCIATION (0-5 points): Clear articulation?

ORAL FLUENCY (0-5 points): Smooth delivery without long pauses?

CRITICAL INSIGHT:

You can score 15/20 even if you don't describe EVERYTHING perfectly!

Winning approach:

✅ Speak continuously for full time (FORM points)

✅ Mention 3-4 key features clearly (CONTENT points)

✅ Use formal language smoothly (FLUENCY points)

✅ Pronounce clearly (PRONUNCIATION points)

Perfect description with choppy delivery = 12/20

Good description with smooth delivery = 17/20

Prioritize flow over completeness! 🎯

Common mistake in Task 2 essays:

QUANTIFIERS with countable/uncountable nouns

❌ "There are much people who..."

❌ "We have many pollution in cities"

❌ "Amount of students are increasing"

✅ CORRECT:

COUNTABLE (can count them):

• Many people

• A number of students

• Several countries

• Few / A few options

UNCOUNTABLE (can't count them):

• Much pollution

• A great deal of information

• Little / A little time

• An amount of money

Quick test: Can you say "one pollution, two pollutions"?

NO = uncountable = use "much"!

Lock this in forever! ✅

Friday speaking truth:

You're NOT less intelligent because your English isn't perfect.

You're explaining complex ideas in your SECOND (or third!) language.

Native speakers struggle to do this in ONE language!

When you get nervous in Speaking test:

❌ Don't apologize ("Sorry, my English is bad")

❌ Don't translate directly from your language

❌ Don't freeze in silence

✅ DO THIS:

• Take a breath
• Say "That's an interesting question..."
• Give yourself 2 seconds to think
• Start with what you CAN say, not what you can't

Confidence isn't about perfection.

It's about COMMUNICATION despite imperfection.

You've got this! 🎤
