OFFICE OF THE STUDENT UNION PRESIDENT, REV. FR. MOSES ORSHIO ADASU UNIVERSITY MAKURDI

SUBJECT: COMPLIANCE WITH MANAGEMENT DIRECTIVE ON HAWKING ON CAMPUS.

The Students’ Union Government wishes to formally inform all students of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, that the University Management Committee at its 381st meeting held on Monday, 9th March, 2026, deliberated on reports concerning the persistent hawking and unauthorized trading on campus despite the existing prohibition.

Following its deliberations, Management resolved that the University Security Unit should intensify efforts to stop the practice and ensure strict compliance with the University policy prohibiting hawking within the campus environment.

In view of this directive, the Students’ Union urges all students to respect and comply with the policy by refraining from engaging in hawking or any form of unauthorized trading within the university premises. Students are also encouraged to cooperate with the Security Unit and other relevant authorities as they carry out their responsibilities in enforcing this decision.

At the same time, the Students’ Union is mindful of the fact that many students engage in small-scale businesses as a means of supporting their education and meeting basic needs. We therefore wish to assure the student community that the Union is actively engaging with the University Management to explore more structured and student-friendly alternatives that will allow legitimate small businesses to operate within acceptable regulations without disrupting the academic environment.

Students are therefore advised to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative while the Union continues discussions with the appropriate authorities to ensure that students’ welfare and economic realities are taken into consideration in the implementation of this policy.

The Students’ Union remains committed to protecting the interests of students while also promoting discipline, order, and a conducive learning environment within the University.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Signed..

Tivkaa.T. Evelyn
Student union president.

OFFICIAL NOTICE: PROGRESS ON NELFUND DISBURSEMENT.

Greatest Nigeria students!!

The Students’ Union wishes to inform all students, particularly those who are yet to receive their NELFUND disbursement, that the payment process is currently underway.

Following a meeting between the Students’ Union leadership and the University Bursar, it was agreed that students who are yet to receive their funds must be paid accordingly, even though the management is currently addressing issues relating to double disbursement made to some students. It is important to emphasize that the NELFUND support is a loan facility which beneficiaries are expected to repay in the future, and therefore every eligible student must receive their rightful disbursement.

Furthermore, the delay in the reflection of funds in the students’ e-wallets is partly due to the introduction of a new icon that will be added to the student portal. This improvement is intended to simplify and reduce the stress associated with students requesting refunds and accessing their financial information through the portal.

The Students’ Union also wishes to clarify that the ₦20,000 monthly upkeep stipend provided under the NELFUND scheme is disbursed directly from NELFUND to the students, and it is not controlled or processed by the school management.

The Students’ Union leadership is actively engaging the relevant authorities to ensure that all outstanding issues are resolved as quickly as possible.

We therefore urge all students to remain calm, patient, and cooperative, as they have always been, while the process is being finalized.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards
