The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Ramat Polytechnic Chapter, organized an interactive meeting with newly appointed academic staff to formally welcome them into the academic community and familiarize them with the union’s objectives, roles, and responsibilities. The meeting served as an orientation platform aimed at fostering unity, professionalism, and mutual understanding among all members of staff.

In attendance were the Deputy Rector (Academics), Polytechnic Librarian, Director of Quality Assurance, Dean, School of Management Studies, Dean, School of Vocational and Technical Education, Heads of Departments (HODs), members of the ASUP CEC and other academic staff. Their presence added depth and significance to the event, reflecting the institution’s collective commitment to academic excellence and staff development.

During the session, the ASUP leadership enlightened the new lecturers about the union’s structure, functions, and its role in safeguarding the welfare and rights of academic staff. Key discussions also centered on academic ethics, commitment to quality teaching and research, and the importance of active participation in union activities.

The interactive forum provided an opportunity for open dialogue, where new members asked questions, shared expectations, and received valuable guidance from experienced colleagues. It also emphasized teamwork, integrity, and dedication as vital ingredients for career growth and institutional development.

ASUP RAMAT POLYTECHNIC Visitation to NEMA: Strengthening Collaboration

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) RAMAT POLYTECHNIC CHAPTER paid a courtesy visit to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to strengthen collaboration on disaster response, capacity building, and institutional synergy. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss mutual areas of interest, particularly in enhancing emergency preparedness within the polytechnic.

ASUP extends its sincere appreciation to NEMA for the warm reception and continued partnership. We value the agency’s commitment to fostering a safer and more resilient academic environment. Update on ASUP Visitation to BOCCIMA

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) RAMPOLY Chapter paid a courtesy visit to the Borno Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (BOCCIMA). The ASUP delegation was warmly received by the Director General of BOCCIMA, Arc. Abdullahi Usman.

In his remarks, Arc. Usman welcomed the ASUP EXCO and emphasized that their visit was timely and significant. He acknowledged the crucial role ASUP plays in fostering academic excellence and institutional development. He also highlighted his connection to Ramat, stating that he was once a part of the institution, which made the engagement even more meaningful.

The meeting provided a platform for discussions on potential collaborations between ASUP and BOCCIMA, particularly in areas of training small, medium and micro enterprises, research and industry linkages for economic development in the state.
