Towards Training of Beneficiaries on Briquettes Production and Business Model Development at Ali Zarmani and Abbaganaram Communities at Jere and MMC LGA, Borno State, CAZS in Collaboration with FAO have Conducted an Awareness Raising Campaign to Inform Community Members about Safe Access to Alternative Clean Cooking Solutions Including the use of Briquettes.

Part of the Awareness Campaign was Explaining the Efficiency of Briquettes Utilization as a Sustainable Energy Source, Pointing out the Multiple Challenges and Risks Associated with Limited Energy Access: GBV, Social Tension, deforestation/forest degradation, indoor air pollution and health implications.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in collaboration with the Center for Arid Zone Studies (CAZS) at the University of Maiduguri, has trained 60 beneficiaries in Jere and MMC LGAs, Borno State on Briquettes production and business model aimed to strengthen food security and promote alternative energy solutions for vulnerable households in Northeast Nigeria.

The project, led by Professor Daniel Gwary, Director of CAZS, focuses on training and distributing briquettes as an alternative energy source while enhancing food security analysis and coordination.

These efforts aim to reduce environmental degradation, improve household energy access, and boost resilience among displaced and vulnerable populations.

The initiative marks a significant step towards sustainable development in the region, and stakeholders express optimism about continued collaboration to advance food security and environmental sustainability in Borno and beyond. Excepts are the pictures of activities:
