The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Maiduguri recently hosted its first-ever cultural carnival, organized by the Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association (NUESA) 2025 chapter. The event took place during Engineering Week in September and was led by NUESA President Abdulsalam Ibrahim Gaji.
The cultural carnival showcased diverse tribes, including:
- *Kanuri*: Known for their rich cultural heritage and traditional practices
- *Gwoza*: Representing the people from the Gwoza local government area in Borno State
- *Babur*: Showcasing the unique customs and traditions of the Babur people
- *Shuwa*: Highlighting the cultural significance of the Shuwa Arab community
- *Arab*: Displaying the rich Arab culture and its influence in the region
- *Yoruba*: Representing one of Nigeria's major ethnic groups, known for their vibrant culture
- *Hausa*: Showcasing the traditions and customs of the Hausa people, another major ethnic group in Nigeria
- *Fulani*: Highlighting the nomadic Fulani culture and their significant contributions to Nigerian society
This event aimed to promote cultural diversity, unity, and understanding among engineering students from different backgrounds. By celebrating their unique traditions and customs, the students fostered a sense of community and cooperation ยน.
