NUBOSS pays courtesy call to Borno State Chief of Staff
The National Union of Borno State Students(NUBOSS) led by its President paid courtesy call to the Chief of Staff (CoS), Prof. Isa Marte Hussaini at the government house Maiduguri.
The President while addressing the CoS informed him that the Union has been in existence for decades and has served as a medium of mediation between the government and the Borno State indigenes studying in higher institutions all over the country. Further reiterating some of the issues affecting the Borno state indigenes in institutions, especially of the University of Maiduguri, particularly, pointing out, those in Faculties of Pharmacy, Allied Sciences and Medical College who are facing the challenges of Post Graduation Bond (agreements of service) which other states Unions have liased with their various governments and the students of the related fields are now enjoying collapse of the Bonds. Furthering their case, the Union also stated that students from faculty of Law are facing the problems of Sponsorship for Law school, which is just one year training after graduation, as majority of students of these faculties are from less privilege, and need support from the government to enable them pursuit their future ambitions for the betterment of all.
Finally, the president announce that the Union will organise, a first of its kind, NUBOSS week with different social activities and lecture sessions on Ways of tackling Gender based Violence; on Youth Capacity Building after Graduation; Cultural Displays among others to showcase talent. He called on CoS and the state government to look into supporting NUBOSS Week.
The Chief of Staff, in his response, commended the efforts of the Union stating that the Zulum administration is all inclusive, especially, on education and welfare of students. Assuring them of the governments support, where necessary.
