Dear university students, learn this before life teaches you the hard way

University is not just about classes and exams. It’s the training ground for real life. And if you’re not learning beyond the textbooks, life will humble you after school.

Here are some hard lessons you need to know now:

1. Not everyone you call “friend” is reliable.
My own close friend once disappeared with something very important to me. We even shared a room before. Learn this now, friendship doesn’t always mean loyalty. Be wise with who you trust.

2. Some people only come into your life to watch, not support.
Not everyone clapping for you is happy for you. Some people are just observing. Don’t live your life to impress others, they don’t care as much as you think.

3. People will disappoint you. Plan for it.
Whether it’s group projects, events, or expectations, have a plan B. Relying too much on people will leave you broken.

4. Don’t borrow to impress.
If you can’t afford it, leave it. Whether it’s a phone, party, lifestyle, or vacation, don’t go broke trying to look rich. That pressure to show off has ruined many destinies.

5. Not every struggle is public.
Some people are battling silently. Be kind. Also, don’t assume everyone is doing better than you because of what you see online.

6. Choose growth over hype.
Use your free time to build something, skills, connections, knowledge. Hype ends. Growth stays with you.

7. You don’t need to wait to be a millionaire to start life.
Whatever small thing you have that’s putting food on your table, value it. Learn how to multiply it. Great things start small.

8. Stop trying to impress people who won’t matter in five years.
They won’t remember the shoes you wore, the parties you missed, or your social media aesthetics. Build a future, not just a moment.

9. Work with people who believe in you.
Don’t fight life alone. Have someone who can say, “We’ll survive this together.” Build real relationships. One solid friend is better than 20 fake one
