This day is one of the most important on our calendar, not just because we gather to celebrate childhood, but because we pause to reflect on the kind of world we are building for children like us and millions of others across the state and country.
This year's theme, stand up, speak up: Building a bullying-free generation is timely and powerful. It reminds us that while children deserve love, learning and laughter, many are facing silent battles of fear, exclusion and intimidation. Bullying is a danger to every child's sense of safety and self worth. It is our duty as a society to make sure that no child feels afraid to be themselves, to go to school, or to speak up.
We, the children must learn to treat one another with kindness and respect. We must speak up for ourselves but also for those who cannot. And to the adults, parents, teachers, leaders, you have the power to create safe spaces where children feel seen, heard and protected.

to this day last year, 20th May 2024, during our first Courtesy Visit to the incumbent Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, who is very passionate about Children, Hajiya Fatima Momoh at the Kogi state ministry of women Affairs and Social Development's conference Hall. The meeting had a significant impact on the state of the Children's parliament as young parliamentarians were able to put out their voices and express the concerns of the Parliament and that of the children of Kogi State.
The directors of all departments in the ministry also spared time from their very busy schedule to listen, profer solutions and to familiarize with the members of the 5th Kogi State Children's Parliament.
