FUL Hosts Workshop on Enhancing Teaching Excellence for Academic Staff

In a significant move to enhance academic standards, the Faculty of Education, Federal University Lokoja organized a comprehensive workshop focused on improving teaching and learning effectiveness.

The event which held at the Multipurpose Hall, Felele Campus on Tuesday, January 21, 2024, with the theme: โ€œEnhancing University Lecturersโ€™ Requisite Knowledge and Skills For Effective Teaching And Learningโ€ brought together academic staff from across various faculties and departments of the institution.

The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. David Kolawole Omole, opened the workshop with a compelling address highlighting the critical role of continuous professional development in maintaining academic excellence. He emphasized the faculty's commitment to fostering innovative teaching methodologies and creating an environment conducive to both teaching and learning.

The Chairperson of the organizing Committee, Prof. (Mrs) Hassana Oseiwu Ali, delivered a warm welcome address that set the tone for the day's proceedings. She outlined the workshop's objectives, emphasizing the importance of enhancing pedagogical skills and adapting to evolving educational landscapes in the 21st century.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, who was represented by Prof. S.D. Musa, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, described the workshop as timely as it aligned with the university's vision for excellence. He emphasized the institution's dedication to teacher enhancement and the creation of opportunities for knowledge sharing among faculty members.

Some members of staff of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), from Lokoja Local Government Area, visited the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi in his office to celebrate with him on the auspicious occasion of his 61st birthday anniversary.

The delegation, led by Professor Abubakar Mohammed, Director FUL Global Institute for Infectious Disease Control (GIIDC), commended the Vice-Chancellor and expressed heartfelt appreciation for his visionary leadership, unwavering dedication, and transformative strides in the development of the University.

FUL Directorate of Health Services Welcomes First Baby Delivered at the Expanded Medical Center

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) Directorate of Health Services celebrated a major milestone following its recent expansion to include full delivery services and other obstetric and gynecological procedures. On Friday, January 24, 2025, at exactly 8:50 PM, the Health Services Adankolo Clinic welcomed its first official babyโ€”a healthy boy weighing 2.8 kg.

The delivery was conducted by a full complement of skilled doctors and health workers, marking a new chapter in the clinic's commitment to providing comprehensive maternal and child health services.

In attendance to celebrate the joyous occasion were Mrs. Justina Akinwumi, wife of the Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. (Mrs.) Rebecca Okojie, the University Registrar. The dignitaries prayed for the newborn and presented gifts to the baby and his family.

The video, shared on TikTok by user on Tuesday, shows students standing up one by one to present their gifts to Dr. Olagunju, who was visibly surprised and smiling throughout the gesture.
