KOGI ORIENTATION CAMP COMMENCES INTER PLATOON DANCE AND DRAMA COMPETITION
The 2022 Batch 'B' stream one inter platoon dance and drama competion commenced in a very interesting note at the Asaya, kabba camp in kogi state.
The competition with the them:THE VOICE OF THE YOUTHS IN NATION BUILDING started with platoons 10, 8, 7 and 6 taking the centre stage respectively.
The platoons are expected to perform taking into congnizances the theme.
Platoon ten drama presentation was based on a 'corrupt politicians that paid INEC officials for vote and thugs to disrupt the elections in his favour but took his children abroad for protection. Unfortunately, he was back stabbed by those he paid.
Platoon 9 performance was 'the story of a small community that government decided to help but due to tribalism and hatred they could not come to agreement what they want, as a result they lost that opportunity
While platoon 6 presentation was based on the topic "child abuse", a story of a small village that need the blood of a royal linage for sacrifice to save the village from calamity. This theme is however diffrent from the officially approved theme for this batch/stream which may likely affect them negatively.
Platoon 8 presentation was on corruption, "some group of people tried to embezzle what belongs to the community for their selfish interest". However, platoon 7 performance was on god fatherism ''... how a man wanted to please his godfather by doing everything alone, not carrying his people along, this was to the detriment of his people.
At the end of the day, the chief judge advised the contestant to fashion their drama around the officially approved THEME so as not to be penalised.
Platoons 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will take the stage when the competition resumes.

NYSC KOGI SPORTS: PLANTOON 9 SINKS PLANTOON 8
It was a scin
cillating encounter at the Asaya Kabba Camp stadium as the football competition got underway with platoon 9 defeating platoon 8 in a thrilling game.
The encounter, which was the first game of the inter-platoon football competition was indeed a thrilling experience right from the kick-off.
In attendance was the camp Director, Pastor Kingsley Musah who represented the State Cordinator, Pastor (Mrs) M.A Williams. The camp director advised the players not to make the game a do or die affair, rather they should enjoy themselves.
The match started with number 9 of platoon 9 having the first kick of the game.

NYSC KOGI: FIRE SAFETY LECTURE
Federal Fire Service, Kogi State representative, Inspector Sunday Adeola has advised corp members in Kogi State permanent orientation camp to be cautious of their environment so as to prevent fire outbreak .
He gave this advice during an early morning lecture at the orientation camp pavilion, yesterday.
Inspector Sunday Adeola was accompanied by Superintendent of Fire, Shuaib Ibrahim . Inspector Adeola told the corps members what fire is all about and what triggers it.
He said 'oxygen, heat and fuel must come together for fire to occur. Anything that is combustible is regarded as fuel. According to him, oxygen is the atmosphere that triggers fire. He also advised them on what to do when there is fire.
He therefore charged the corp members to take preventive measures against fire outbreak in their environment.

DO NOT PROJECT NYSC IN BAD LIGHT --Pastor Mrs. M.A Williams
The 2022 batch B stream one prospective corps members deployed to Kogi State for national service have been told to guide against doing things that can bring the name of the scheme in disrepute.
The State Coordinator gave this advise when briefing the PCMs at the NYSC Kogi State orientation camp, Asaya, Kabba Local Government Area of the state.
She also told them not to pay for any service provided them by the scheme. She warned the PCMs against paying or offering anybody money for posting or any form of favour stressing that anyone involved in such act would be made to face the full weight of the law.
The number one corps member in the state also used the occasion to appeal to them on the proper use of the social media. She said the social media should be used positively because any misuse or abuse of it could be dangerous to the scheme and the individual.
The PCMs were also reminded of the importance of acquiring additional skills through the NYSC skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme (SAED). She said acquiring additional skills would put food on the table while waiting for the white collar job.
Pastor Williams also warned the PCMs to stay off the Man 'O' War gadgets except there's a Man 'O' War official accompanying them. She also reminded them of the need to remain disciplined throughout the orientation course and respect all course officials no matter the assignment they do in the camp. According to the state coordinator, to be disciplined is to subject to every camp rule and regulations.
The PCMs were also reassured of their safety in camp as adequate security measures have
been put in place to protect lives and property of everyone.
On the issue of health, Pastor Williams advised the PCMs not to hide their illnesses, rather they should take advantage of the National Health Insurance policy put in place by the scheme to take care of corps members' health.

SUPPORT THE CALL FOR NYSC TRUST FUND.....NYSC DG appeal to stakeholders
Stakeholders nationwide have been called upon to support the call for the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC ) Trust Fund which has just been passed by the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly.
The call was made by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah in a nationwide address to corps members at the 2022 Batch B stream one swearing in ceremony of corps members deployed to Kogi state for their one year national service on the 21st of June 2022, at the state orientation camp.
The DG who's address was read by the NYSC Kogi State Coordinator, Mrs. Mofoluwaso Adebimpe Williams said the establishment of the NYSC TRUST FUND will in no small measure enhance the smooth operations of the scheme, especially in addressing the challenges of infrastructure and providing start -up grant for Corps Members.
General Fadah also appealed to stakeholders on the need to redouble their efforts towards the success of the scheme's Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers ( HIRD) which is aimed at providing easy access to free and qualitative health care, especially for those in the rural area.
The NYSC DG also used the occasion to congratulate the corps members on the successful completion of their various degree programmes that qualified them to be called up for national service. He reminded them of the need to adhere strictly to the established safety measures such as physical distancing, wearing of face mask and the use of hand washing facilities provided at strategic locations in the orientation camp. The D-G advised that they should avail themselves of the covid- 19 vaccination that will be administered on camp for the benefit of those who have not been vaccinated.
The NYSC DG also expressed his profound gratitude to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control ( NCDC), for their continued support towards the safe conduct of the orientation course.

NYSC, A TIME TO RENEW YOUR GOAL AND ASPIRATIONS .
A call has gone to the 2022 batch B stream one prospective Corps Members deployed to Kogi State to see the call to national service as a time of hope and new possibilities.
This call was made by the Director of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, NYSC Headquarters, Abuja. In a speech delivered on behalf of the State Coordinator Mrs M.A. Williams by the Camp Director, PCMs were called upon to see this period of national service as a time of hope and new possibilities considering the increasing rate of unemployment among Nigeria graduates. The Director noted that available statistics had shown that a sizeable number of the young graduates does not possess the practical skills needed for the available jobs in the contemporary Nigeria economy.
He stated further that it was as a result of this worrisome situation that the NYSC SAED came up with the idea of building the capacity of corps members so as to enable them gain the required experience and hands-on skills to be able to cope with the challenges of unemployment.
He noted that part of the NYSC SAED's mandate was to contribute meaningfully to the fulfillment of the SDG's protocol which is the reduction of extreme poverty and hunger among others in Nigeria.

OBEY THE CUSTOM AND TRADITION OF YOUR HOST COMMUNITIES
The 2022 Batch B stream one Corps Members deployed to Kogi State for their one year national service have been told to obey the custom and tradition of their host communities during their service year. This advise was given at the NYSC Kogi State orientation camp recently by the representative of His Royal Highness of Kabba,Chief Simon Adebayo at the 2022 batch B stream one traditional lecture day.
Chief Simon who said the people of Kogi State are loving and peaceful and accommodating. He however warned the Corps Members not to take granted the culture and traditions of the people. He advised them to stay clear of local politics in wherever they were posted.
The traditional ruler also cautioned the Corps Members who will be posted to schools to relate with the pupils /students responsibly and display high sense of decorum wherever they go. He also advised them that while trying to integrate amongst the communities, they were to make effort to identify and stay clear of sacred and traditional worship centres in any community they were posted to.
Chief Simon Adebayo also informed the Corps Members that the state was hospitable to strangers and advised those with the intention to remain in the state after their service year to pursue legitimate undertaking which includes inter-cultural marriage, could do so legitimately without cutting corners.

ORIENTATION COURSE IS DESIGNED TO EQUIP YOU FOR THE TASK AHEAD --- Brigadier General MK Fadah
The 19th Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah, DSS, Pjsc , MA, MTRCN has appealed to the 2022 Batch B stream one prospective corps members deployed to Kogi State for national service to see the three weeks orientation programme as a preparation ground for the challenges ahead of them.
The DG made the appeal in a virtual nationwide address to prospective corps members and course officials on Monday, 20th June 2022. He advised them to take advantage of the orientation course and participate in all camp activities while ensuring that they respect course officials and obey all camp rule and regulations.
He encouraged them to familiarise themselves with the NYSC App and Bye Laws and use the social media responsibly.
The number one Corps Member in Nigeria also advised the PCMs to be conscious of their security at all times. He warned them to continue to observe all covid -19 protocols as the pandemic is far from being over.
