She walked in like a vision and spoke like a movement.
Our Executive Director, Ms Rita Ekpenyong ,showed up to the Annual Educators Conference 2026 looking every inch the leader she is, and the room felt it from the moment she stepped on that stage.
Gold on purple. AfriTeach behind her. Africa on the backdrop. And one arm raised to the sky like a declaration.
Because that is exactly what this day was, a declaration. That Africa's educators matter. That the work they do is sacred. That from every classroom, this continent rises.
Thank you for leading with such grace, and undeniable style.

That child in the back row who never sits still?
The one who stares out the window during every lesson?
The one who constantly forgets homework?
They are not a problem to manage. They may be a child who needs to be understood differently.
At the Annual Educators Conference 2026, Mrs. Olayinka Obafisoye, Head of School at Meadow Hall Education, delivered one of the most impactful sessions of the entire day: a powerful, practical workshop on SEND - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The room was packed. The phones were out. People were taking notes faster than they could write.
Because every teacher in that hall knew exactly what she was talking about. They have sat with those children. They have struggled to reach them. And for many of them, Saturday was the first time someone gave them the language, the framework, and the tools to actually help.
From understanding inattention in middle childhood, to recognising ADHD features in the classroom, to knowing how to respond with compassion and strategy, Mrs Obafisoye brought clarity to one of the most misunderstood areas of education in Nigeria today.
Every classroom has a child who needs this knowledge. Every teacher deserves to have it.
Thank you, Mrs Obafisoye. This session was marvellous.

She couldn't be with us in person. But her message was fully present.
Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Former Vice President, World Bank Africa Region & Former Minister of Education, could not attend the Annual Educators Conference 2026 in person. But she sent Dr Jude Akubude, Chief of Staff to stand in that room and carry her conviction to every educator in that hall.
And he delivered.
The message was clear: Africa's teachers are not footnotes in the story of this continent's development. They are the authors of it.
Thank you for your continued dedication to Africa's education story, and to her Chief of Staff for representing her with such grace and conviction.

When a Former Ambassador takes the mic, the room listens differently.
Amb. Opunimi Akinkugbe, Former Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Greece, delivered one of the most powerful keynote addresses at the Annual Educators Conference 2026, and the room felt every word.
She didn't just speak about education.
She spoke about nations.
About the people who build them.
About teachers.
Because here is the truth: Amb. Akinkugbe understands better than most, every diplomat, every policymaker, every leader who has ever sat across a table and shaped the future of a country was first shaped by a teacher.
The classroom is not where education ends. It is where everything else begins.
Thank you, , for honouring Africa's educators with your presence, your story, and your truth.

She built the room. Then she stood in it and set it on fire.
Dr Kehinde Nwani, CEO & Co-Founder of AfriTeach, delivered the welcome address at the Annual Educators Conference 2026.
Look at that stage. Look at that room. Look at what happens when a vision refuses to stay small.
On May 2nd 2026 at Muson Centre, Lagos, Dr. Kehinde stood before a hall full of Africa's educators and said what needed to be said, that teaching is not just a job. It is the foundation of everything this continent will ever become.
"From Every Classroom, Africa Rises."
Those words belong to every teacher who has ever stayed late to mark books, who has ever repeated a lesson five different ways until one child finally understood, who has ever believed in a student before the student believed in themselves.
This conference was for you. This stage was for you.
And we are just getting started.

This is what it looked like.
Notebooks open. Pens moving. Numbers exchanged. Conversations that refused to end. Laughter that filled the room. Minds that left sharper than they arrived.
The Annual Educators Conference 2026 was everything we hoped it would be...and more.
Look at this room. Look at these people. These are Africa's teachers, school leaders, and education changemakers, showing up for themselves, for each other, and for every child sitting in a classroom waiting for them on Monday morning.
This is what "From Every Classroom, Africa Rises" looks like in real life.
To everyone who was in the room with us on May 2nd 2026, thank you. You made this what it was.
And to everyone who missed it, we see you. Edcon 2027 is already calling your name.

EDCON26: Thank You!
We came together as educators, leaders, dreamers, and doers, and you made it extraordinary.
To our keynote speakers, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Ambassador Nimi Akinkugbe, and Mr. Derek Smith, your words didn't just fill a room. They filled a movement.
To our panellists, Fiona Esther Wagbatsoma, Mrs Olayinka Obafisoye, Mrs Muruthi Elose Wanjiru, and U-Meleni Mhlaba-Adebo, thank you for your truth, your insight, and your passion. Every classroom is better because people like you exist.
Every single person who registered, showed up, engaged, asked questions, and shared the energy of the day, won prizes, got gifts.....you ARE the reason we do this.
EDCON26 is done. But the work is not.
From Every Classroom, Africa Rises.
