📚 A student opened a book looking for ten words… but discovered a hundred new possibilities. 📖

Last week, our Reading Challenge entered an exciting new phase with Week 3 – The Golden Word Hunt, a literacy initiative designed to stretch vocabulary, deepen comprehension, and inspire students to explore language beyond the ordinary.

Powered by our newly launched Mobile Library, students enthusiastically selected novels and embarked on a mission to uncover Tier 3 vocabulary words — specialised, sophisticated words that challenged them to think, research, and communicate at a higher level. 🧠

To complete the challenge, students identified advanced vocabulary, researched accurate meanings, and demonstrated true understanding by crafting rich, high-level sentences that reflected both creativity and mastery of language.

The excitement built throughout the week and reached its peak during the evaluation session held on Friday, where students confidently showcased their vocabulary knowledge and literacy skills before their peers.

After an impressive display of excellence, four students emerged as standout performers:

🏆 Seidu Davina
🏆 Olarunfemi Peniel
🏆 Agboele Michael
🏆 Izomor Alexander

The impact of the Mobile Library continues to be truly remarkable. Students who once showed little interest in reading are now actively seeking books, embracing healthy competition, and developing stronger reading habits. Parents have also shared encouraging feedback about the renewed enthusiasm for reading at home. 📖

Adding to this growing movement, a generous parent donated five financial literacy books to enrich our collection and further strengthen the reading culture across the school community.

At CBIS, we believe that every new word learned opens a new world discovered — and we remain committed to raising readers, thinkers, communicators, and lifelong learners.

🧠 Every great classroom begins with one powerful question… “How can we help students think more deeply?” 📚

Last week, our teachers came together for an enriching Staff Professional Development Seminar focused on Thinking Routines and strategies for creating deeper, more meaningful learning experiences in the classroom. 💡

Through guided discussions, practical resources, reflective activities, and engaging professional conversations, teachers explored approaches that encourage students to think critically, become more creative, and develop higher-order thinking skills. 🧠

The training highlighted how Thinking Routines can transform everyday lessons into opportunities for curiosity, analysis, connection-making, and active student engagement — aligning strongly with student-centred and TEEP teaching practices. 📖

Teachers were also encouraged to reflect on how intentional questioning and structured thinking activities can gradually build independent learners who do not only absorb information but learn how to think. 💭

At CBIS, we remain committed to investing in our educators because when teachers grow professionally, students flourish academically and beyond.

Together, we continue to create classrooms where ideas are explored, voices are heard, and learning becomes unforgettable.

🎹 The lights came on… the music began… and suddenly, young dreams found their stage. 🎤

On Thursday, 21st May 2026, Melodymania 2026 – Stage Two officially commenced, opening another exciting chapter in our celebration of creativity, originality, and musical excellence at CBIS. 🎶

After successfully advancing from the audition stage, contestants stepped onto the stage to perform their original compositions, confidently showcasing their talent, creativity, and passion for music before the judges and audience. 🎵

A total of five contestants performed on the opening day, delivering inspiring presentations marked by confidence, stage presence, and artistic expression. Each performance reflected dedication, preparation, and the courage to share something uniquely their own. 🎙️

Adding to the magic of the event was a special piano presentation by Erick, whose performance captivated the audience and created one of the memorable highlights of the day. 🎹

As judges carefully assessed contestants based on originality, vocal delivery, stage performance, and overall musical presentation, the atmosphere remained electric with excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead. 🎶

The journey continues as more contestants take the stage and move one step closer to the next round. Melodymania remains a beautiful platform for nurturing confidence, celebrating creativity, and discovering the incredible talents within our students.

❤️ A smile was shared. A hand was held. And hearts left fuller than they arrived. ❤️

Yesterday, our Year 7 and Year 8 students embarked on a meaningful Community Service Visit to Sought After Orphanage — an experience that reminded us that kindness is one of the greatest gifts we can give.

The visit was organised to nurture empathy, service, compassion, and social responsibility while giving students the opportunity to experience the joy of giving back to the community. 🤝

During the visit, our students shared gifts and essential items with the children, participated in games and recreational activities, and spent quality time listening, interacting, laughing, and creating beautiful memories together. 🎁

What began as an act of giving became a moment of connection, joy, and shared humanity. The children welcomed our students with warmth and excitement, while our learners returned with grateful hearts and a deeper understanding that even the smallest act of kindness can leave a lasting impact.

We are proud of our students for representing CBIS with compassion, maturity, and excellence. Experiences like these continue to shape learners who are not only academically strong but also caring, responsible, and globally minded citizens.

At CBIS, we believe that education is not only about growing minds but also about growing hearts. 💙

🌍 Last week, a group of students stood before younger learners… and for a moment, they became the voices of the Earth. 🌱

As part of our Green School Programme themed “Education for a Sustainable Environment,” our outstanding Green School Champions stepped beyond the classroom and into leadership by engaging Upper Primary pupils in an inspiring peer-learning session on “Becoming a Responsible Environmental Steward.”

Following the successful completion of Day 1 – Junior School Seminar, Day 2 – Senior School Sustainability Seminar, and Day 4 – Green School Excursion, Day 3 created another memorable opportunity for students to lead, inspire, and influence positive environmental action. 🌍

Through engaging discussions, interactive activities, and meaningful conversations, the Champions enlightened younger pupils on their role as global citizens and reminded them that caring for the environment begins with everyday choices and responsible actions.

The session was vibrant, inspiring, and filled with moments of curiosity, discovery, and connection as students learnt from students and realised that age is never a barrier to making a difference.

We sincerely appreciate the Elementary School teachers for their support and collaboration, as well as the School Management Team and Green School Committee for their continuous dedication to creating impactful learning experiences.

And the journey continues… 🌳
Next stop: Day 5 — Tree Planting Exercise and Assigning Carers to Trees.

Because when we teach children to care for the Earth today, we prepare them to protect it tomorrow. 🌍💚

📚Sometimes, the best learning begins with a simple question… “What do you notice?”💭

As part of our continuous professional development programme, CBIS recently held an engaging Teacher Training Session focused on the “See, Think, Wonder” instructional strategy.

The session encouraged teachers to explore creative and inquiry-based approaches that promote critical thinking, observation, reflection, communication, and deeper student engagement in the classroom. 💡📖

Through interactive discussions, visual analysis, and reflective learning activities, teachers experienced firsthand how simple questioning techniques can transform lessons into meaningful and student-centred learning experiences. 👩‍🏫

The training reinforced our commitment to equipping educators with innovative teaching strategies that inspire curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning among students.

At CBIS, we believe that when teachers continue to grow, classrooms become more engaging, impactful, and transformative for every learner.

🌍A handful of sand… a lesson for the future. 🌊

As part of the ongoing Green School Programme themed “Education for a Sustainable Environment,” selected students of Caleb British International School embarked on an enlightening educational excursion to Pan-Atlantic University and Eleko Beach on Saturday, 16th May 2026 for the pilot launch of the National Ocean Microplastics Monitoring Initiative (NOMMI).

The excursion, organised by RE-cycleME Solutions in collaboration with the Living Green Club of Pan-Atlantic University, exposed students to practical environmental research, sustainability education, and marine conservation activities. 🌱🌊

From engaging keynote sessions and sustainability talks to practical field sampling exercises at Eleko Beach, students gained firsthand experience in environmental documentation, waste classification, teamwork, and scientific research techniques. The experience opened their eyes to the growing impact of ocean pollution and the urgent need to protect our environment for future generations. ♻️

One of the most inspiring moments of the excursion was watching our students confidently participate in discussions, ask brilliant questions, and actively engage in field activities alongside environmental experts and researchers.

The students also enjoyed a guided tour of Pan-Atlantic University, further enriching the learning experience beyond the classroom walls.

This excursion formed part of the school’s ongoing Green School Programme Activities:
🌱 Day 1: Assessment & Environmental Awareness
🌍 Day 2: Sustainability Seminar & Presentations
👩‍🏫 Day 3: Peer Teaching Activities (currently ongoing this week)
🚌 Day 4: Educational Excursion to Pan-Atlantic University & Eleko Beach
🌳 Next Week — Day 5: Tree Planting Exercise

At CBIS, we remain committed to raising environmentally conscious learners who are equipped to create sustainable solutions for a better future.

📚✨ A student picked up a book… and suddenly, a whole new world opened. ✨📚

What began as a simple reading activity has gradually become a movement of curiosity, creativity, confidence, and excitement across our school community.

Our Reading Challenge Programme continues to gain remarkable momentum as students across Years 7, 8, and 10 enthusiastically immersed themselves in literary exploration, analysis, storytelling, and creative expression.

From insightful reviews and engaging summaries to dramatic reenactments of scenes from selected plays, students displayed confidence, critical thinking, and a genuine passion for reading.

The sessions were lively and interactive as students discussed characters, shared lessons learnt from their texts, and inspired one another through thoughtful presentations. Several outstanding students were recognised and rewarded with educational novels for their exceptional performances.

Due to the growing enthusiasm and participation, the programme venue was moved to the school cafeteria to provide a more comfortable and engaging environment for students. The Mobile Library also continues to attract tremendous excitement, with students eagerly borrowing books and competing for the title of “Top Reader” for the term. 📖

We deeply appreciate the continuous support of the school leadership, staff, and stakeholders whose encouragement and contributions continue to strengthen this impactful initiative. Together, we are nurturing confident readers, deep thinkers, and lifelong learners.

💙What if one act of kindness could change someone’s entire day? 💙

Last week, our Year 8 and Year 9 students participated in a powerful and inspiring Anti-Bullying Programme themed “Kindness Matters.”

The atmosphere was filled with reflection, creativity, learning, and meaningful conversations as students explored the importance of empathy, respect, compassion, and standing up for one another. 🤝

A major highlight of the programme was the engaging playlet presented by Year 8 students, which beautifully portrayed the effects of bullying and the life-changing impact of kindness. The performance captured hearts, sparked reflection, and reminded students that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference.

Students also participated in the Kindness Pledge and World Kindness Prayer, reaffirming their commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment. An educational video session further deepened their understanding of bullying and the importance of being an upstander rather than a bystander.

To keep the message alive beyond the programme, students were introduced to a Kindness Challenge for the week, encouraging daily acts of kindness within the school community. Committee members were also tasked with preparing creative presentations on “Being an Upstander, Not a Bystander,” which will be shared during fellowship sessions.

At CBIS, we believe kindness is powerful, respect is essential, and every child deserves to feel safe, valued, heard, and encouraged to flourish.
