DÉSOLÉ / DÉSOLÉE = real apology

Yes, it works… but there are other natural ways to say “nice to meet you” depending on the situation.

Here are 3 useful options:

• Ravi(e) de faire votre connaissance— Pleased to make your acquaintance (formal)

• Ravi(e) de te rencontrer — Glad to meet you (casual)

The truth about scoring C1 in TEF Speaking (Section B)🇫🇷

Many candidates fail this section.
Not because their French is bad…

But because they don’t know the structure the examiners expect.

And without it, you panic.
You pause too much.
You run out of ideas.
And the 10 minutes suddenly feel like a trap.

Here’s the simple structure strong candidates use.

➡️Understand the task first

Section B is an informal conversation with a friend.
The examiner plays the role of your *ami / amie.*

Your mission is simple:
• Explain the advertisement
• Convince your friend to participate

If you want a C1 score, always follow this 3-step flow.

1️⃣ Natural introduction

Start like a real conversation:

« Je me souviens que tu m’avais dit récemment que tu cherchais des idées pour __, non ?
Justement, hier j’ai vu une annonce sur les réseaux sociaux et j’ai immédiatement pensé à toi. »

This shows fluency and spontaneity.

2️⃣ Present the announcement clearly

« Il s’agit d’une annonce qui concerne _.
L’idée est assez intéressante parce qu’elle permet de _.
Franchement, je pense que ça pourrait vraiment t’intéresser. »

3️⃣ Handle objections like a native

Your “friend” will hesitate. That’s normal.

They might say:
• « Je n’ai pas le temps. »
• « Je ne connais personne. »
• « Ça doit coûter cher. »
• « Je ne suis pas motivé. »

A strong candidate acknowledges first:

• « Je comprends tes inquiétudes. »
• « Ne t’en fais pas. »
• « Franchement, ce n’est pas un problème. »

Then you reassure and convince.

Strong ending

« Honnêtement, je suis vraiment content(e) que tu aies changé d’avis.
Je suis sûr(e) que cette expérience va beaucoup te plaire. »

The reality?

Most candidates study grammar for months…
But fail because they never learned how to structure their answers.

Start with A1 and keep going.
The level where you start struggling is probably close to your current French level.

Some people stop at A2.
Some reach B1 or B2.
A few can comfortably read C1 or even C2.
