The Waiting Season – Episode 7

"The Reason They Chose Me"

I sat quietly, holding my phone tightly.

Mrs. Daniels' words echoed in my mind.

"Esther, there's something you need to know about this job before you accept the offer."

My heart began to race.

What could she possibly mean?

Had something gone wrong?

Was there a condition I didn't know about?

"Ma," I said softly, "what is it?"

There was a brief silence.

Then Mrs. Daniels spoke.

"Esther, during the interview, they asked if anyone could personally recommend a candidate."

I listened carefully.

"I mentioned your name."

I smiled.

But she wasn't finished.

"I didn't recommend you because you were the most qualified person."

My smile faded.

"Then why?" I asked.

Her answer caught me by surprise.

"Because of your character."

I was silent.

She continued.

"I have watched you over the years. I saw how you treated people with kindness. I saw your honesty. I saw your commitment, even when no one was watching. And when they asked for someone trustworthy, your name came to my mind."

Tears filled my eyes.

All this time, I thought God was only preparing me for a job.

But He had been preparing my character.

Suddenly, memories flooded my mind.

The times I helped people without expecting anything in return.

The moments I chose integrity, even when it was difficult.

The days I served faithfully, even when nobody noticed.

I thought those moments were ordinary.

But heaven was using them to write my story.

Mrs. Daniels spoke again.

"Esther, opportunities can open doors, but character keeps them open."

I wrote those words down immediately.

After the call ended, I sat quietly.

I realized something important.

Waiting had changed me.

The Esther who started this journey months ago was not the same Esther sitting here today.

Waiting had taught me patience.

Disappointment had taught me trust.

Closed doors had taught me surrender.

And silence had taught me to listen to God.

That evening, I opened my Bible and read:

"A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold."
— Proverbs 22:1

For the first time, I understood the verse deeply.

People may notice your qualifications.

But they remember your character.

As I was about to sleep that night, my phone buzzed.

It was a message from the company.
I smiled and opened it.
But the smile slowly disappeared from my face.

The message read:

"Dear Esther, due to an unexpected development, your resumption date has been postponed."

I stared at the screen.

Postponed?
Again?
Had my waiting season truly ended?
Or was there another lesson God wanted to teach me?

THE THIRD ANGEL WITH A WARNING

There are warnings we hear and quickly forget.

There are warnings that make us uncomfortable, so we ignore them.

And then there are warnings that God gives because the consequence of ignoring them is far too serious.

In Revelation 14, three angels are seen proclaiming messages to the inhabitants of the earth. But when the third angel speaks, his message is not one that should be treated lightly.

He comes with a warning.

A warning about worship.

A warning about allegiance.

A warning about a choice that carries an eternal consequence.

Imagine standing at a crossroads with two roads before you. One road appears easy and attractive. Many people are already walking on it. There is no resistance, no persecution, and no need to stand out.

The other road is difficult. It requires courage. It requires faithfulness. It may even require you to stand alone.

Then you hear a voice saying:

“Be careful which road you choose, because your choice will determine where the road ends.”

That is the seriousness of the third angel's message.

The warning is directed at anyone who worships the beast and receives his mark.

Notice something important: the issue is not merely a mark.

The deeper issue is worship.

Whom will you acknowledge as Lord?

Whom will you obey when obedience becomes costly?

Whom will you choose when the whole world seems to be going in another direction?

The third angel warns that worshipping the beast and receiving his mark is not a harmless decision. It is a deliberate alignment against God, and Revelation presents the consequences as terrifying and eternal.

This should make us pause.

Because sometimes we think the greatest danger is losing our comfort.

But Revelation reminds us that the greatest danger is losing our loyalty to God.

What if one day choosing God becomes inconvenient?
What if standing for truth costs you opportunities?
What if everyone around you bows, but God says, “Do not bow”?
What will you do?

The third angel's warning forces every heart to confront one question:

WHO WILL YOU WORSHIP?

Because eventually, every person must choose where their allegiance lies.

You cannot serve two masters forever.

You cannot belong to God in words while your heart continually bows to another authority.

The warning of Revelation 14 is therefore not something to read casually. It is a call to examine our hearts, our loyalty, and our worship.

The question is not merely:
“What do I believe?”

The question is:
“Whom do I worship?”

And when the pressure comes, will your worship remain with God?

The third angel is warning humanity.

Do not wait until the choice becomes impossible to reverse before you decide whom you belong to.

Choose God.
Stand for God.
Remain faithful to God.
Because eternity is too long to make the wrong choice.

“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
The same shall drink of the w**e of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

‎OOU COMMENCES 2026/2027 POST-UTME SCREENING EXERCISE

‎The Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, has commenced its 2026/2027 Post-UTME Screening Exercise today, September 1, 2026, at the University’s Main Campus.
‎
‎The screening exercise has brought together prospective students seeking admission into the various undergraduate programmes of the University, with candidates participating in the screening exercise in an orderly and peaceful atmosphere.
‎
‎Addressing the candidates and their parents during the exercise, the Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, encouraged candidates who had adequately prepared for the examination to remain confident, noting that those who genuinely prepared for the examination would perform well.

‎Prof. Ayodeji Agboola also emphasised the importance of discipline, decent dressing and responsible conduct, appealing to parents to ensure that their children maintain the values and standards expected of students of the University.
‎
‎“Whatever you won’t accept in your house, don’t allow them to dress like that to come to this school,” the Vice-Chancellor stated, while urging parents to ensure that their children remain good ambassadors of their homes.
‎
‎He further appealed to parents not to abandon their children after securing admission, stressing the importance of parental guidance and continued interest in their academic progress throughout their university education.
‎
‎According to him, parents should periodically check their wards’ academic performance, encourage them to remain focused and, where necessary, visit them in school to monitor their progress.
‎
‎The Vice-Chancellor also encouraged parents and candidates to remain prayerful and committed to their success, assuring them that with adequate preparation, discipline and determination, they can achieve their academic goals.

‎He wished all candidates the best of luck in the screening exercise, while praying for their success and God's blessings.

What has been delayed will not be denied.

What looks impossible today, God is able to turn around.

HOW CAN WE AVOID CANCER?

We start educating ourselves on what to know about cancer. Now, this is a very important one to take note of.

Cancer is not always preventable, but many cancers can be prevented or their risk reduced by making healthier choices and going for recommended screenings.

Here are some important steps we should take:

🚭 Avoid to***co.
Smoking and other forms of to***co are major causes of cancer. Avoid smoking and secondhand smoke.

🍺 Limit alcohol.
The less alcohol you drink, the lower your risk of alcohol-related cancers.

🥗 Eat a healthy, balanced diet.
Eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans and other nutritious foods. Limit highly processed foods, excessive red meat and foods high in unhealthy fats and sugar.

🏃‍♀️ Stay physically active.
Regular physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight can help lower the risk of several cancers.

☀️ Protect your skin.
Avoid excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation. Use appropriate protection and avoid unnecessary tanning.

🦠 Prevent infections linked to cancer.
Vaccines such as HPV and hepatitis B vaccines can help prevent infections associated with certain cancers.

🩺 Go for recommended cancer screening.
Some cancers can be detected early through screening, including cervical, breast and colorectal cancers, depending on your age, s*x, personal risk and local guidelines.

⚠️ Don't ignore unusual changes in your body.
A persistent lump, unexplained weight loss, unusual bleeding, prolonged cough, changes in bowel habits or other persistent symptoms should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

Remember: Prevention is not a guarantee that someone will never develop cancer. Cancer can affect people even when they live healthy lives. But reducing known risk factors and detecting cancer early can make a significant difference.

Your health is worth paying attention to. Don't wait until you are sick before you start caring for your body.

The Waiting Season – Episode 5

"The Opportunity"

I stared at my phone screen for what felt like forever.

"Esther, I've been trying to reach you. I think I have an opportunity that might interest you..."

The message was from Mrs. Daniels.

A woman I had worked with briefly two years ago.

Back then, she had always encouraged me.

But we had lost contact.

Why was she reaching out now?

With trembling fingers, I replied.

"Good evening, Ma. It's been a while. What opportunity are you referring to?"

A few minutes later, my phone rang.

It was her.

"Esther!" she said warmly. "How have you been?"

We exchanged pleasantries before she got straight to the point.

"I recommended you for a position in our organization."

My heart nearly stopped.

"You did what?"

She laughed.

"I've always admired your character and work ethic. When the vacancy came up, your name immediately came to mind."

For a moment, I was speechless.

I couldn't remember the last time someone had spoken so highly of me.

Especially during a season when I was questioning my worth.

"Ma, thank you so much," I managed to say.

"Don't thank me yet," she replied. "There's still an interview process."

The word interview immediately brought back painful memories.

The rejection.

The disappointment.

The tears.

As if she sensed my fear, she added,

"Esther, whether you get this position or not, never allow a previous disappointment to convince you that God is done with you."

Her words settled deep in my heart.

That night, I thought about everything that had happened.

The closed doors.

The delays.

The waiting.

What if God had been preparing this opportunity all along?

What if every rejection had been directing me here?

For the first time in months, I felt something I hadn't felt in a while.

Hope.

A few days later, I walked into the interview room.

This time, I was nervous.

But something was different.

I wasn't desperate.

I wasn't trying to force God's hand.

I had learned that my future was not in the hands of an interviewer.

It was in the hands of God.

The interview went smoothly.

When it ended, one of the panelists smiled and said,
"We'll get back to you very soon."

As I left the building, I whispered a prayer.

"Lord, whether this door opens or not, help me trust You."

Three days later, my phone rang.

The caller ID showed the company's name.

My heart pounded.

I answered.

"Hello, Esther?"
"Yes, speaking."

The voice on the other end sounded cheerful.

Then came the words that changed everything.

"Congratulations..."

My eyes widened.

But before the caller could finish the sentence, the network suddenly cut off.
