Research shows that routines support healthy social emotional development in early childhood.
Children with regular routines at home have self-regulation skills, the building blocks of good mental health.
When children learn to regulate feelings and behaviors, it means they are able to identify their feelings and have skills to manage those feelings so that they donāt feel overwhelmed.
Young children who learn to do this well are better able to adapt to everyday challenges, stressors, and new expectations.
What your childās back to school@daily routine should entail:
ā¢Wake-up time
ā¢Prep time (this includes bath, breakfast and dress up for school)
ā¢Rest/Nap time after school
ā¢Study time (this includes homework, book reading, other academic works)
ā¢Play time/Screen time (this depends on your family rules whether or not your kids do screen time during school)
ā¢Bath time
ā¢Bedtime
I understand that doing or being your best as parents isnāt easy however, Iām rooting for you and I know you can do it. Take it one step at a time and pretty soon it will all come easy for you.
