Most students revise for exams…
but not for the questions that actually appear.

Here’s the truth: WAEC and JAMB don’t just test memory — they test thinking in three layers:

➤ Recall
“State… Define… List…”
Checks what you can remember

➤ Application
“Calculate… Use this formula… Solve…”
Checks if you understand how to use what you know

➤ Analysis
“Explain… Why… Compare…”
Checks how deeply you truly understand

The real problem:
Many students stop at memorising
but exam success comes from using and explaining

Example (Mathematics):

➤ Recall: State the formula for the area of a triangle
➤ Application: Calculate the area when base = 10 cm and height = 6 cm
➤ Analysis: Explain why triangles with the same base and height have equal areas

What this means for teaching (and learning):

Don’t stop at: “Do they know it?”

Push further:
Can they apply it?
Can they explain it clearly?
Can they transfer it to a different situation?

Because exams don’t reward memorisation alone —
they reward understanding in action.
