Today, the Nigeria medical space is in a state of emergency due to shortage of personnel and experts. Many Nigerians are one medical emergency away from death.

So we thought about the problem and said "Where are the specialists? Why training, funding and retention are failing".

Meet Our Speaker(s)
BOMA ANITA WEST Community Advocate | HR & Governance Professional | Niger Delta Voice

Boma Anita West is a Port Harcourt-based advocate, HR professional, and operations leader whose work sits at the intersection of people, policy, and community. With a cross-sector career spanning government, NGO, and private sector environments, she brings a grounded, systems-level perspective to the challenges facing women, marginalised communities, and neurodivergent individuals across the Niger Delta and beyond.

Boma is the founder of the Quiet Harbour Initiative, a governance and policy advocacy framework addressing the structural invisibility of an intersectional population of women in West Africa. She is a Community Liaison Officer with the Women Safe House Sustenance Initiative (WSSI), championing survivor-centred advocacy since 2022.

Her advocacy extends into the neurodivergence space through her work with the Blazing Heart Autism Foundation, where she has developed inclusive educational frameworks and policy tools that centre the dignity and rights of neurodivergent individuals and their families in Nigeria.

A multilingual communicator fluent in English, Nigerian Pidgin, and German; a language she is actively perfecting.

Boma is known for translating complex policy and human rights conversations into language that moves people, from community halls to boardrooms. Her driving conviction is simple: structural change begins where people are seen.

Research shows that 7 our of every 10 individuals living with a disability have been sexually abused, with the numbers rising on a daily basis. This reality brings us to the question " What can we do differently, to stop the menace?"

Join us this Saturday as we explore sexual safety education, why protection without the right information and protection is not enough.

Saturday, 18th April 2026.

Individuals with disabilities face heightened risks of sexual violence due to factors like:
- Dependence on caregivers
- Communication barriers
- Societal stigma and misconceptions
- Limited access to support services

In Nigeria, organizations like the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) and NGOs provide support for affected individuals .
