What Do You Really Possess As a Parent?

As parents, we work hard to provide many things for our children. We build careers, pursue opportunities, and strive to create comfort and security for our families.
While material things are important, they are not the greatest gifts we can give our children.

Children may appreciate the things we provide, but what truly shapes their lives are the values we teach, the love we show, and the time we spend with them.

Let us be careful not to chase wealth, power, and status so much that we forget the very people we are working for.

Our children need more than material provision.
They need our presence, guidance, patience, and attention.

Remember: the greatest inheritance we can leave our children is not what we leave for them, but what we leave in them : character, faith, compassion, and wisdom.

Let us be intentional in building strong relationships with our children, creating beautiful memories, and nurturing the hearts that God has entrusted into our care.
Because in the end, the most valuable possessions are not the things we accumulate, but the lives we influence and the love we share within our families.

Wishing you all a happy and restful weekend.

Your child’s brain is like a garden.
If you water it with the right habits, they will grow sharp, creative, and independent.
Neglect it, and even bright children can struggle with focus, problem solving, and confidence later.
Many parents say:
“My child is always distracted.”
“He never thinks ahead.”
“He/She only wants cartoons or phone.”
But the truth is: intelligence isn’t just inherited. It’s built daily, through habits, guidance, and environment.

Turning paper into magic!

Paper mache is a creative art technique that involves using pieces of paper mixed with glue, starch, or paste to create different objects. The term “paper mache” comes from a French word meaning “chewed paper.” It is called this because the paper becomes soft and easy to shape when mixed with paste.

Paper mache is very simple to make. The basic materials needed are old newspapers, water, flour or glue, and sometimes a balloon or mold to shape the object. First, the paper is torn into small pieces. Then it is dipped into the paste and layered over a mold. After that, it is left to dry. Once it dries completely, it becomes hard and strong. It can then be painted and decorated.

Paper mache can be used to create many beautiful and useful items such as masks, bowls, flower vases, animal models, and even decorations for parties and festivals.

One important advantage of paper mache is that it helps in recycling. Instead of throwing away old newspapers and papers, they can be reused to create something meaningful. It also helps to develop creativity, patience, and artistic skills.

A CHARGE TO PARENTS

Parents, education does not begin and end in the classroom. The school can teach, guide, and discipline, but values are first formed at home. When children are consistently excused from the consequences of bad behaviour, they do not learn confidence or boldness; they learn entitlement and disrespect.

When parents automatically side with their children without listening, correcting, or partnering with teachers, they unknowingly weaken the very system meant to help their children grow. Discipline is not abuse. Correction is not hatred. Boundaries are not wickedness.

Teachers are not enemies of your children. They are partners in shaping their future. A child who cannot respect authority in school will struggle to respect authority in life. A child who is never corrected will be corrected harshly by society later.

Let us raise children who are accountable, respectful, and teachable. Let us support teachers who are trying to build character, not just pass exams. Let us remember that today’s unchecked behaviour becomes tomorrow’s broken adult.

The home and the school must speak with one voice. Only then can our children truly succeed.

*MID WEEK TONIC*

PARENTS… pause. Read this slowly.

2026 is here. Your child is older, a little taller, a little louder, a little more independent.

And while you’re busy chasing money, stability, comfort, and “a better life for them”, they’re quietly growing past the stage where they need you this much.

This isn’t to guilt you, it’s to wake you up. Because most of us love our children deeply yet we always answer calls while they’re talking, scroll while they’re telling stories, rush them when they want to be heard.

And children don’t usually remember how hard you worked, they remember how available you were.

So this year, don’t just be a providing parent alone, be an intentional one.

They don’t need more toys, they don’t need bigger clothes or fancier outings. They need you, present, listening, interested and emotionally available.

The work will still be there, messages will wait, social media won’t collapse if you log off.
But you see their childhood? It’s happening now, and it doesn’t rewind.

One fully present moment today beats years of regret tomorrow.

So ask yourself honestly: What’s ONE thing I’ll do differently with my children this year?

Let’s be intentional together.
