Teachers, Stop Writing “Seen” & “Checked” All the Time!
Your red pen should build confidence — not just confirm correction.
Every time you mark a student’s work, you’re shaping mindset, effort, and identity. Instead of “Seen” or “Checked,” use words that motivate growth and belief.
Try simple, powerful feedback like:
Great job! Well done! Keep it up! Nice effort! Excellent work! Good try! You’re improving! Keep practicing! Well answered! Almost there! Good thinking! Well written! Great understanding! Very creative! Amazing effort! Well explained! Fantastic work! Brilliant answer! Clear explanation! Much better! You’re on the right track! Excellent presentation! I’m proud of your effort! Keep aiming higher! You can do even more!
Remember:
✔️ Feedback shapes confidence.
✔️ Words build mindset.
✔️ Encouragement increases performance.
Let students see belief — not just correction.

"How to Prepare Your School Before Resumption”

A Step-by-Step Guide

School resumption is not just about opening the gates—it’s about setting the tone for a successful term. If you want students, parents, and staff to start strong, preparation is key. Here’s how to get your school ready:

1️⃣ Deep Clean and Organize

Classrooms, toilets, playgrounds, and offices should be spotless.
Remove broken furniture, sharpen pencils, and refill stationery.
A clean school tells parents you care about their child’s safety and comfort.

2️⃣ Check Facilities and Equipment

Ensure desks, chairs, fans, and lights are functional.
Test lab equipment, computers, and sports gear.
Broken tools frustrate teachers and demotivate students.

3️⃣ Review Academic Materials

Update lesson plans and teaching schedules.
Prepare textbooks, workbooks, and reference materials.
Ensure teachers have resources for each subject and grade.

4️⃣ Prepare Staff

Conduct a short orientation or briefing for teachers and non-teaching staff.
Set expectations on discipline, communication, and professionalism.
Remind staff of safety and emergency protocols.

5️⃣ Set Administrative Systems

Check admissions, fee collection, and record-keeping systems.
Update student lists, parent contacts, and staff attendance sheets.
Smooth administration reduces stress on the first day.

6️⃣ Communicate With Parents

Send reminders about resumption dates, school rules, and required materials.
Update them on new policies, programs, or activities.
Clear communication builds confidence and trust.

7️⃣ Prepare the School Environment

Decorate classrooms with charts, motivational posters, and learning aids.
Ensure signage for safety, hygiene, and rules is visible.
An inviting environment encourages excitement and engagement.

8️⃣ Plan for Student Welfare

Ensure first aid kits, medical checks, and clean water are ready.
Brief staff on handling emergencies and student support.
Students feel safe, and parents feel reassured.

HOW TO HANDLE PARENTS WHO COME TO SCHOOL TO FIGHT TEACHERS
(Preventive + Remedial Measures Every School Should Use)🥀🥀

There's been an upsurge in the incidents of parents coming to school to attack/fight/beat up teachers 😢

This is a really sad development and I always wonder "how/when did we get here?"

Let’s be honest:
Some parents arrive the school angry, defensive, or ready for confrontation — and teachers often become the target.
But conflict can be managed before, during, and after it erupts.

So here’s how schools and teachers can stay safe, calm, and professional👇

1. PREVENTIVE MEASURES (Stop the fight before it starts)✅

a. Establish clear communication channels

Parents should know the official way to express concerns (email, office line, diary note, scheduled meeting).
When communication is structured, emotions are filtered.

b. Keep parents informed early

Small issues become big fights when parents feel “kept in the dark.”
Regular updates reduce surprise and suspicion.

c. Train teachers in conflict communication

Not every confrontation is a fight — sometimes it’s a misunderstanding.
Teachers need skills in:
Calming language✅
De-escalation✅
Tone control✅
Boundary-setting✅

d. Enforce strict access protocols

No parent should walk straight into a classroom or staff room.
Security + reception rules = fewer heated confrontations.

e. Build positive parent–teacher relationships

When parents trust you, they approach with conversation, not confrontation.

2. DURING THE INCIDENT (If a parent arrives angry)

a. Stay calm — do NOT match their energy

Replying with anger escalates the situation instantly.

b. Move the conversation away from students

Take it to the office or reception area.
Never argue in front of learners.

c. Have a witness present

A colleague or admin should be in the room — always.

d. Use neutral, de-escalating language:

“Let’s look at what happened together.”✅
“I understand your concern; here’s what I can confirm.”✅
stay safe

MISTAKES TEACHERS MAKE DURING LESSON DELIVERY.

1. Starting the lesson without a proper introduction or set induction. Students enter the lesson confused or uninterested.

2. Talking too much and explaining for too long . The class becomes teacher-centered and students lose engagement.

3. Not checking for understanding as they teach . The teacher assumes students are following, when many are lost.

4. Using only one teaching method .No variety, no activities and no adaptation for different learning styles.

5. Ignoring the slow learners . Teaching fast and leaving some students behind.

6. Failing to connect the lesson to real-life experiences . Students memorize but don’t understand or value the content.

7. Poor classroom management . Noise, side talks and distractions interrupt the flow of the lesson.

8. Skipping guided practice . Students are told what to do but are not shown how to do it step by step.

9. Not summarizing the lesson before ending . Students leave without clear key points or takeaways.

10. Ending the lesson abruptly . No reflection, no closure and no reinforcement of the main idea.

All teachers
Let try this before the end of the term
Give students papers 📃
Let them rate or review u in terms of teaching and give other teachers in terms of conduct
Don't be offended with what so ever u see on the paper
That will lead you to the next phase of getting the best out of self

*THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DISCUSS WITH PARENTS AS A TEACHER*

Some teachers get into unnecessary trouble not because they are incompetent, but because they say what should never be said during conversations with parents.
If you want peace of mind and professionalism, avoid these:

✅ 1. Your personal struggles
Parents don’t need to know you’re broke, stressed, sick, or frustrated. Keep conversations strictly professional. Oversharing reduces your authority.

✅ 2. Other teachers’ weaknesses
Never say, “His previous teacher didn’t teach him well,” or “Madam XYZ doesn’t know what she’s doing.”
It makes you look unprofessional — and parents will eventually quote you somewhere else.

✅ 3. School internal issues
Don’t discuss salaries, management problems, conflicts, or staff disagreements. You are not a news reporter. Maintain loyalty and confidentiality.

✅ 4. Intimate details about other learners
Never tell parents, “Your child is better than John,” or “Mary is stubborn in class.”
You may think it’s small talk, but it is a big breach of ethics.

✅ 5. Your personal dislike for the child
Even if the child stresses you, don’t say it. Keep emotions aside and stay objective.

✅ 6. Sensitive information you can’t defend later
If you're not sure, don’t say it. Guessing leads to trouble.

💡 Professional rule:
Talk about the child’s progress, behaviour, needs, and improvement plan — nothing more.

Parents respect teachers who speak with wisdom, boundaries, and clarity.

TEN WAYS A TEACHER CAN AVOID BEING LATE TO SCHOOL

✅make a decision never to be late.
Remember you are a role model to students.

✅Set Alarms: Use alarms to ensure you wake up on time. Setting alarms at different intervals can help prevent oversleeping.

✅Prepare the Night Before: Lay out your clothes, pack your bag, and prepare materials needed for the day ahead of time. This reduces morning rush and stress.

✅Get Sufficient Sleep: Ensure you get enough rest each night to wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead. To this effect try and sleep early.

✅Plan Your Commute: Know the traffic patterns and plan your route accordingly to avoid unexpected delays. Consider alternative routes if necessary.

✅Leave Early: Give yourself extra time in the morning to account for unexpected delays such as traffic, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances.

✅Limit Distractions: Minimize distractions in the morning by focusing on essential tasks and avoiding activities that can cause you to lose track of time.

✅Stay Organized: Keep track of time throughout the morning using a clock or timer to ensure you stay on schedule.

✅Accountability Partner: Share your goal of being punctual with a colleague or friend who can provide encouragement and accountability.

✅Reflect and Adjust: Regularly reflect on what factors contribute to any lateness and adjust your morning routine or habits accordingly to improve punctuality.

I hope this helps.
