Canada just held a new Express Entry draw. 🇨🇦

On August 18, 2026, IRCC invited 1,000 candidates to apply for permanent residence through the Canadian Experience Class.

The minimum CRS score was 523 — the highest CEC cutoff recorded all year and a 7-point jump from the previous draw on August 5 which had a cutoff of 516.

The smaller draw size (down from 3,000 last time) is what pushed the cutoff up. Future draws with higher invitation numbers are expected to bring the cutoff back down to the 514–518 range.

What this means for you:
If your CRS score is below 523 — your language score is one of the fastest ways to close that gap.

CLB 7 gives you 24 CRS points from language.
CLB 9 gives you 48.

That 24-point difference could be exactly what separates you from the next invitation.
