Chemistry has come up with a solution to one of the persistent environmental problems: uncontrollable open urination. Hydrophobic chemicals, which repel water due to their inability to polarize or ionize and mix with water, instead form a distinctive layer against water molecules. This ensures their surface tension is highly repulsive, creating a sliding sheet that allows water to bounce off their surface.

Examples of hydrophobic chemicals include organic solvents like benzene and fluorinated compounds.

If hydrophobic chemicals are used as part of the solvent for mixing paints, the paints become hydrophobic, encapsulating all components within the hydrophobic layers for wall coverage. A wall painted with such paint will become hydrophobic, violently repelling water and causing it to splash off its surface.

Consequently, anyone urinating on such a wall will be harassed by the offensive splash of urine back onto them. This will create the desired control to deter open urination and control environmental pollution.
