Dear Teacher,

Often, I hear people say that your reward is in heaven. Really?

Ironically, same people look forward to receiving the reward for their own work here on planet earth.

Yes, I know that your work affects eternity. But know that the reward for your labour begins here on earth.

So, keep working hard dear teacher, for you have TWO REWARDS for your service to humanity.

The earthly reward and the heavenly reward!

Finally, don't lose yourself in the process of doing your job. Without you, THERE IS NO SCHOOL.

So, TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF because you matter.

HAPPY TEACHERS' DAY.

I woke to the sound of torrential rain this beautiful Monday morning.

If you live around Lekki-Ajah axis, you probably had the same experience.

I'm supposed to be happy whenever it rains because it means the weather will be cool.

God, I love chilly weather! But whenever there is heavy rainfall, my entire neighbourhood is bound to be flooded.

This unpleasant situation tend to discourage parents from bringing their children to the school. Who can blame them?

So, for me, rainy season comes with mixed feelings.

While it was still raining, I got a call from one of the parents at about 8 o'clock.

"Good morning madam. The kids are in the car with me. I parked close to Citadel (not real name). Kindly ask your teachers to come pick them up"

Immediately I hung up, I called two of my teachers to go pick up the kids.

Suddenly, I heard a voice in my head, "You are the leader, L E A D!".

I called the teachers back, and asked another to get me an umbrella.

They probably were wondering what was going on.

"Let's go!", I said, leading the way while both of them followed me.

As I stepped out of the school gate, the divine instruction I heard earlier made sense to me. Flooding covered everywhere! 😭

We stepped into the freezing water, which was already at knee-level, and trudged through it all the way down to where the car was parked.

The coldness of the water was crippling. "Thank you Lord", I muttered to myself.

Was I thanking God for the flood? No! I was thanking Him for giving me the opportunity to feel the discomfort the teachers would have felt alone.

We got to the car, opened the door, and the kids jumped on our backs one after the other.

The one I carried giggled and said, "Thank you Miss Amos". That brought tears to my eyes.
Children are just wonderful!

My friend, leadership is about vision and responsibility, not power.

A true leader L E A D S!

Stop asking kids what they would like to become in the future, rather ask them what problem they would like to solve for humanity.

They learn better when you love them better.

The most effective teaching method is LOVE. Learn to use it always.
