Lagos stood still last week for the Women in Mining (Lagos chapter) as they held their maiden edition of the Lagos Gold and Gem conference on the 4th and 5th of Nov at the Metropolitan club, V.I.
Our lead facilitator was honored to have been on a panel session with veteran jewelers in the industry discussing the challenges and future of jewelry making in Nigeria.
We are also glad to announce that she was awarded the (Exceptional Young Woman Award 2022) for having trained over 100 students.

We have a Jewelry Design Competition!
Open to all Nigerian Jewelers
Theme: UNITY
Looking at the current state of the country and the world right now, we need to be more united for a peaceful and coexisting world
Jewelers and jewelry designers are encouraged to make/design a piece that portrays the beauty of unity & support using jewelry
The designer is required to submit a pdf copy of their design or a photograph of the jewelry piece. Closing date for applications is October 20th, 2022.
Your application must include:
1. A completed application form
2. A description of your project
3. A list of materials used in the design
Objectives
1. To promote and encourage designs in the Nigerian jewelry industry.
2. To act as a platform for jewelers to communicate and share their creative ideas
3. Jewelers are encouraged to design a piece of jewelry using any of the following methods:
a. Hand Sketch: Entries can be hand sketch without the use of any computer software.
b. Computer Aided: Entries can be design with any kind of computer-based software.
c. Making: Entries can be made with any precious metal.
