Chief Gani Fawehinmi, the greatest! Sixteen years ago, we lost this giant to lung cancer strangely, a man who never smoked, was struck down by lungs cancer.

Many times it was revealed that during his brutal detentions, especially under the wicked Ibrahim Babangida regime, his prison cell was doused with unknown chemicals. Yet, Gani never let darkness stop him until his final breath.

He was fearless, super organized, and different. Beyond defending us as student leaders in court, he made sure we were fed in detention his wife cooking meals that reached us behind bars. There will never be another like him.
