The Claretian Academy Ewu-Owa crowned her Social Weeks activities today with a grand cultural event and a reality show in collaboration with Annclare Talent Show. The weeks-long activities comprised four main strands: football, track and field events, and a cultural celebration and ended with a reality show. The programme kicked off on 17th February with a football match, cultural display and concluded with the talent hunt on the 28th of February.
The event began with the celebration of the Holy Mass, attended by three priests: the Chief Celebrant, Rev. Fr. Terseer Emmanuel Ubi, CMF (School Manager), flanked by Rev. Fr. Kenneth Ejeh, CMF (School Bursar), and Rev. Fr. Vincent Asagunla, CMF (Homilist). In his homily, Fr. Vincent encouraged everyone to live a good Christian life, especially during the Lenten season, by observing the three pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
The competitions featured four houses: Babastro, Ihedoro, Xifre, and Mary-Claret. Each house participated actively and gave their utmost best throughout the events. The football and track competitions for both boys and girls showcased remarkable determination, resilience, and sportsmanship in the pursuit of success. Participants demonstrated teamwork and healthy rivalry, making the sporting activities both engaging and inspiring.
The Social Week concluded with a colourful cultural event, during which the houses proudly represented different Nigerian cultures. The Xifre House presented the Gbagi culture; Babastro House presented the Igala culture; Ihedoro House showcased the Igbo culture; while Mary-Claret House displayed the Yoruba culture. The celebration featured captivating cultural dances, food exhibitions, and brief explanations of each culture presented. Awards were presented to winners across the various week-long activities, with Mary-Claret House emerging as the overall winner for the 2026 Social Week, followed by Babastro and the other houses. The 2026 Social Week was truly memorable; fun-filled, inspiring, and life-giving.
Meanwhile, the Annclare reality show brought in students from Claretian Academy and other surrounding schools for a talent reality show in collaboration with the Claretian Academy during the midterm break to show case individual talents and skills from our young children. The children were happy showing their God given talents and skills. There was online voting that combined with individual talents that produced winners in different categories. Another one comes up in August and we can't be happier knowing it's going to be much bigger and fun filling.
Long live the Claretian Missionaries!
Long live the Delegation of West Nigeria!
Long live the Claretian Academy!

Great initiative by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) to have produced the Catholic Social Teachings into graphic learning books for all Catholic Basic Schools in Nigeria.
It's a great takeaway for me at this year's AGM of Church and Society Department of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Abuja having five units (Education, Health, JDPC, Family and Human Life, Migrants and Refugees).
This beautiful document of the Church can be taught in schools now and not just in the seminaries only.

*Résumé of our First Term at Claretian Academy*
As the year comes to an end, we at the Claretian Academy Schools, Ewuowa look back with great joy and happiness in thanksgiving to God for a successful outing this term. We look forward to a bigger and better picture that lies ahead of us in 2025.
The term began on a high note of enthusiasm and energy in a spirit filled manner with the pontification of the Holy Mass offering prayers for our institution, for our students and pupils as well as our teachers, parents and friends of the Academy. This significant beginning led us into proper educational leadership and spiritual development of staff and pupils and students.
The teacher's day was a high point to note as they were celebrated for their commitment and dedication to service.
Another highpoint for us was the visit from our General Curia in Rome by Br. Giovanni Ramirez, CMF to boost our academic life and show the global network and mission of the Claretian educational system.
The School Administrator, Fr. Terseer Ubi CMF also attended in two separate events; the 4th National Catholic Education Summit and AGM of the Church and Society Department of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Durumi, Abuja. This is in furtherance of meeting up and keeping in tune with the Catholic education system in the country.
The term also saw new prefects inaugurated to reinforce the values of leadership, service and responsibilities within the students' body.
The term was ended with a highly anticipated Lessons and Carol where the students performed hymns and songs to depict the season, dances, dramas were not left out. This was to reflect the school's deep rooted traditions of combining academics and cultural and spiritual activities. We therefore thank God's grace for this beautiful and amazing end of the first term as the year comes to an end.
