But wait… if every educator moves online, who will hold the hands, read the faces, manage the emotions and guide the little learners in the classroom? 🤔

Online teaching is a valuable development in education, but it cannot completely replace the physical classroom—especially in the early years.

Children need human connection, observation, hands-on experiences, social interaction, guidance and the responsive presence of a teacher.

The future of education should not be online versus classroom. It should be about educators becoming more versatile—using technology where it adds value while remaining present where children need us most.

So, who will remain in the classroom?

The educators who understand that technology is a tool, not a replacement for the teacher. 👩‍🏫📚

IF YOU HAVE TO SAY “SIT DOWN!” 20 TIMES A DAY, YOUR CLASSROOM MAY BE TELLING YOU SOMETHING.

Before blaming the children, let's examine the learning environment.

Are children sitting for too long?

Are they given opportunities to move?

Are the activities appropriate for their developmental level?

Do they have meaningful choices?

Are the materials accessible?

Are they actively involved in the learning process?

Sometimes classroom management problems are not simply behaviour problems.

They may be environment problems.

A well-prepared child-centred environment can reduce unnecessary interruptions because children have purposeful things to do.

🌱 The goal is not to control children all day.

The goal is to create an environment that supports learning, independence and positive behaviour.

YOUR CLASSROOM DOESN’T NEED MORE ACTIVITIES. IT MAY NEED A DIFFERENT APPROACH.

Many early years teachers spend hours preparing activities for children.

But here is the question we should ask:

Are the activities helping children become active learners—or simply keeping them busy?

A child-centred classroom is not about filling every minute with activities.

It is about creating opportunities for children to:

Explore

Make choices

Manipulate materials

Solve problems

Practise independently

Learn through purposeful play

This is one of the principles behind Montessori education.

Teachers need to understand why the activity matters, what the child is learning, and how they should guide the experience.

Don't just keep children busy. Create opportunities for meaningful learning.

We Have Paid for Extra Lessons… So Why Is Nothing Changing?

Parents, this one is important.

Sometimes the answer to poor performance is not more lessons.

If a child is struggling with reading, mathematics or writing, first ask:
What exactly is the child struggling with?
Don't just add another teacher.

Find the gap.

👉 Try this: Write down:
My child CAN do: ______

My child CANNOT yet do: ______

The next skill to teach is: ______

Target the gap instead of simply adding more hours.

One Class, 30 Children… 30 Different Levels!

Teacher, does this sound familiar?

One child finishes the activity in 5 minutes.

Another is still trying to understand the instruction.

And another is asking:
“Teacher, what are we doing?” 😂

You cannot teach a mixed-ability class effectively by pretending everyone is at the same level.

👉 Try this: Give the same learning objective but different levels of support.

Needs help: Work with the teacher.

Almost there: Give guided practice.

Already confident: Give a challenge.

Same lesson. Different support.

A lesson can be educational and still be boring.

Try these simple strategies:

🎲 Use a quick learning game.
💬 Ask learners to discuss in pairs.
🙋🏽 Allow them to ask questions.
🧩 Give them a problem to solve.
🎭 Use role play.
✋ Let them demonstrate what they have learnt.
📖 Use a story to introduce the concept.
