❤️ The Day I Entered the Kitchen: Love Is Proven When It Is Inconvenient

One day, my wife became ill and couldn't cook.

Immediately, several questions crossed my mind.

Should we both go hungry? Of course not.

Should I insist that she drag herself into the kitchen despite her condition? Absolutely not.

Should I order fast food? That was an option, but I'm not much of a fast-food person except when there is no better alternative.

So, I did what I could do and what love demanded.

I entered the kitchen.

Thank God I can cook. Whether it's Edikang Ikong, Afang, Efo Riro, Jollof Rice, or other delicious meals... Hilda Baci might need to watch out! 😀 (Just kidding.)

My schedule was already packed, but I refused to let busyness become an excuse. I adjusted my plans, tied my apron, and cooked for my family.

I didn't sit down complaining about the situation.

I looked for a solution.

That, to me, is intentional love.

Love is not merely saying, "I love you." Love is stepping up when your partner cannot.

A farmer does not expect a plant to flourish without watering it. In the same way, no relationship or marriage will continue to blossom without intentional effort.

Imagine if I had shouted at my wife because she was sick.

Imagine if I had left both of us hungry simply because cooking was "her responsibility."

Would that have reflected love?

Her moment of weakness became my opportunity to demonstrate my love.

Many people profess love when life is easy.

Real love is revealed when sacrifice is required.

Your words matter.

Your actions matter even more.

The love you claim to have for your spouse or partner should be visible in both your words and your works.

Scripture consistently presents love as action. Patience, kindness, forgiveness, sacrifice, and service are not merely emotions; they are decisions expressed through our behavior.

A beautiful orange tree that never bears fruit is of little value to its owner. Likewise, love that produces no visible action eventually loses its meaning.

Some of the Best Opportunities to Prove Your Love

❤️ When your partner is sick.

❤️ When they are financially challenged.

❤️ During pregnancy and while nursing a baby.

❤️ When they fail or make mistakes.

❤️ When they offend you.

❤️ When they are emotionally weak or vulnerable.

❤️ When they are pursuing a project and need your support.

❤️ During birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, promotions, and other special occasions.

Don't wait for perfect moments before showing love.

The difficult moments are often the greatest opportunities to prove it.

Action Point:

Choose one practical way today to intentionally express love to your spouse or partner through both your words and your actions.

"Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in deed and in truth." — 1 John 3:18

The Silent Attitude That Is Killing S3x in Many Marriages (Most Couples Don't Even Notice It!)

A husband once complained to me:
"Pastor, my wife no longer seems interested in intimacy."

A few days later, I spoke with the wife.
She quietly said, "Pastor, it's not that I don't love my husband. I'm just tired of being criticized every day. Nothing I do is ever good enough."

Then she added something that struck me:
"How do you expect my body to respond when my heart keeps getting wounded?"

That conversation revealed a truth many couples overlook.

The greatest enemy of healthy sêx in marriage is often not age, not work, not children, and not a busy schedule. It is the attitudes couples carry into their relationship.

Here are some attitudes that slowly kill intimacy in marriage:

❤️ Constant criticism. Nobody feels emotionally safe with someone who always points out faults.

❤️ Bitterness and unforgiveness. A heart full of resentment rarely opens itself in intimacy.

❤️ Disrespect. Whether directed at the husband or the wife, disrespect creates emotional distance before physical distance.

❤️ Neglect. When one spouse feels ignored outside the bedroom, they may not desire closeness inside the bedroom.

❤️ Harsh words. Proverbs reminds us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Your words can either awaken love or bury it.

❤️ Taking your spouse for granted. Appreciation keeps love warm. Assumption makes it cold.

Healthy intimacy begins long before bedtime. It begins with kindness at breakfast, patience during disagreements, respect in conversations, forgiveness after mistakes, and intentional acts of love throughout the day.

Marriage is not sustained by romance alone. It flourishes where love is consistently demonstrated through godly attitudes.

May God help us build marriages where both hearts feel safe, valued, and deeply loved.

👉 Now let's learn from one another:
1. Which attitude do you believe destroys intimacy in marriage the fastest?

2. What practical habit has helped keep emotional and physical intimacy alive in your marriage?

3. If you're single, which lesson are you taking into your future marriage?

I'd love to read your thoughts in the comments.

1. You speak to your Pastor with respect; but you speak to your spouse anyhowly

2. You speak politely to your clients; but you speak rudely to your spouse

3. You defend a celebrity who doesn't even know your name; but you speak lowly of your spouse and don't protect his/her feelings

4. In Church you are so kind, gracious and a blessing; but at home you are mean, cold and judgmental

5. You tell your Boss courteous words, "Thank you", "Please"; but never use these words when speaking to your spouse

6. When you are running late for an important meeting you apologize to those you are going to meet and even explain yourself; but to your spouse you don't give a damn

7. You dedicate time for conversations with the people you chat with over the phone; but you create no time for your spouse

8. You speak with such pride and enthusiasm of the children of strangers who are doing great things; but your children have never heard you speaking about them with pride

9. You admire the wealthy in society forgetting they started somewhere; but you belittle your spouse and talk down his/her dreams

10. You don't hesitate to come to the defense of your ex; but your spouse you leave exposed and have no consideration

11. You are quick to follow the advice of others; but when your spouse gave you the same advise, you didn't bother

Have you forgotten who is important in your life?
