BETWEEN US — EPISODE 4
THE QUESTION SHE COULDN’T ANSWER
“Do you still want this marriage?”
The question stayed between them.
She looked at him.
For the first time in years, she didn't know what answer would hurt less.
“Yes” felt like pretending.
“No” felt like destroying everything they had built.
So she stayed quiet.
He looked away.
“I’m not asking because I want to leave,” he said quietly. “I’m asking because I don't know if you still want me here.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
“I want you here,” she whispered.
“Then why does it feel like I'm alone in this marriage?”
She had no answer.
Because the truth was painful.
Somewhere along the way, they had stopped fighting for the marriage and started fighting against each other.
They stopped asking,
“What's wrong?”
And started saying,
“Do whatever you want.”
They stopped saying,
“I miss you.”
And started pretending they didn't care.
She wiped her tears.
“Maybe we didn't stop loving each other,” she said.
“Maybe we just stopped knowing how to love each other.”
He finally looked at her.
And for the first time that night, neither of them looked away.
Then he asked the question neither of them had been brave enough to ask before:
“Can we still fix this?”
She took a deep breath.
“I don't know.”
Then she reached for his hand.
“But I think we should try.”
TO BE CONTINUED…
💬 If you were in her position, would you try to fix the marriage—or walk away?
