I am firmly of the belief that interior spaces that are beautiful, functional, and effective greatly enhance the health and well-being of the occupants. With this conviction in mind, you can think of yourself as a health professional and sell that philosophy to your client from the first appointment and throughout the project.
You can sell it because you believe in it. Good design is good for mental health and physical well-being, as well as happier relationships between the people who inhabit the space, be it to live in or work in.
Your job is to listen to the client’s problems, make a diagnosis, and come up with a prescription to solve those problems. Successfully closing a sale is completing the entire problem-solving process, or at least taking it as far as humanly possible. The “close” is simply the natural outcome to a well-executed presentation and communication experience.
