Mathematics: The First Subject
Mathematics holds a unique position as one of the oldest and most foundational subjects in human history. Its origins can be traced back to prehistoric times when early humans used basic counting and measurement to understand the world around them. This inherent connection between mathematics and the natural order makes it not just a subject, but the very language of existence.
The Roots of Mathematics
Mathematics predates formal education. Ancient civilizations like the Babylonians, Egyptians, and Greeks developed mathematical concepts to solve real-life problems. From tallying livestock and measuring land for agriculture to building monumental structures like the pyramids, math was essential. These early applications gave rise to the development of arithmetic, geometry, and algebra — the core branches of mathematics.
Why Mathematics is the "First Subject"
1. Universal Applicability: Unlike other subjects that may focus on specific aspects of human experience, mathematics is universal. It is independent of language, culture, or geography, making it the first truly global subject.
2. Logical Foundation:
Mathematics teaches reasoning, logic, and structure, forming the basis for other disciplines like science, technology, engineering, and economics.
3. Ancient Pedagogy:
Before written language, mathematical ideas were already in use, from counting systems to rudimentary geometry. It served as a foundation for learning and was one of the first subjects to be taught formally in ancient schools.
4. Inherent in Nature:
From the spirals of a nautilus shell to the patterns of the stars, the principles of mathematics govern the natural world. Its presence is intrinsic, making it the first subject humanity discovered and continues to explore.
Mathematics as a Gateway to Knowledge
The progression of human knowledge has always been intertwined with advancements in mathematics. It is the bedrock of scientific revolutions, from Galileo's observations to the modern-day innovations in artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Moreover, the ability to understand and use mathematics empowers individuals to think critically and solve complex problems.
Mathematics in Modern Education
Today, mathematics remains a cornerstone of education worldwide. It is often one of the first subjects introduced to children, starting with counting and simple arithmetic, progressing to algebra and calculus. This progression mirrors humanity's journey through history — from understanding basic quantities to grappling with abstract and complex ideas.
Conclusion
Mathematics is not merely a subject taught in classrooms; it is the framework upon which our understanding of the universe is built. As the first and most fundamental discipline, it continues to inspire curiosity and innovation. Whether solving a daily problem or exploring the mysteries of the cosmos, mathematics remains humanity’s first tool for making sense of the world.

*BAD TEXTBOOKS:* Notorious Serial Killer📊
The way text books shape the academic life of a child can not be overemphasized. A textbook is a learning material skillfully and logically constructed or built with a set of goals in mind, which must be evident in the lives of the pupils/ students.
*A textbook can be viewed as a ladder, having multiple steps, systematically, logically, experiencially attached in such a way, that, every steps the climber ( Learner) takes, is upward and progressive.*
It is developed so that a child will undergo a process of learning. It is somewhat called a program, which will enable the learner to quickly, soundly and sustainably gain the necessary knowledge.
To produce a book, Qualified authors and experienced Publisher come together to write, with the mind to positively impact the academic life of the learners. Such books are not written overnight.
They are patiently and painstakingly processed: from the writer, to group of experienced editors: critically checking the contents, making all sorts of adjustments down the line, so as to make sure it delivers its rightful course, then back to the writer. The back and forth movement, sometimes, may take 10years or more, before a textbook is accepted to be satisfactory.
*It is therefore important to note, that not all textbooks are written with the above views in mind. And equally important, is that, not every author possesses the required skills and experience to drive home the stipulated objectives into the learners.*
It is no gainsaying to note, that, some authors write, just to introduce a material, not really concerned if the contents and the lesson arrangements possess the potential to bring out the needed behavioural display and pattern from the learners.
*These set of book writers only desire to make a fortune out of the destructive materials they call textbook. These are highly poisonous, and most times, of course relatively cheap in prices.*
Consequently, these kind of poisonous books get into the hands of some learners. They ignorantly devour them, forming, not only what can't be of any viable yied, but also, if care i

*MATHEMATICS Against INTEREST*
Mathematics has constantly remained a bedrock of every technological advancement. The Pillar of innovations and discoveries. Mind-blowing Scientific researches are making waves under the influence of Mathematics. it is not a hype to pin-point that Innovation only becomes a mirage without mathematics.
No nation can grow beyond her level of Mathematics discovery. Any nation who joke not on the matter of building their children in mathematics will never cease in recording volumes of scientific breakthrough and technological advancement.
It is worthy of note, that, there wouldn’t have been landing on the moon, building of suspended bridges, ceaseless improvement in the building of aircraft, if not for the presence of curious mind who have given themselves out to the constant study of Mathemamtics.
The point is this, possessing a sound mathematics mind start from building an interest in Mathematics.
Now, one mistake most parents make is that, we feel mathematics is not a serious matter until a child get to Secondary School. What a grave mistake.
The fact is that building interest in mathematics is much more important than building oneself in Mathematics.
Right from Nursery Class, serious premium should be placed on mathematics for our children. It is a time of interest building. I want to encourage Parents/Guidance to equip their children well in mathematics.
I am a teacher who believe mathematics is a right to every child. Let’s stop supporting the notion that that some children brain does not support mathematics.
I say this categorically, any child who is showing symptom of this nature has lost it somewhere in the process of his/her academic line.
The truth is that, the ealier a child picks up in mathematics, the easier it will be for him or her to accomplish chosen professional path.
A child who loses interest in mathematics will either struggle with other subjects or fails to perform in them especially if he/she is in science department.
Mathematics will not only widen the interest of a student in senior classes to pursue a professional path but will automatically ignite the interest of all other science subjects. (TEMPLE OF MATHEMATICS)
