314TH EDITION, MAY 17TH 2026

1ST LESSON: Exodus 13:17-22
2ND LESSON: Matthew 3:13-17

THE LIFE-TRANSFORMING ENCOUNTER

After God had dealt with Moses through the ten plagues, he finally submitted to God’s demand by letting the Israelites go.

God did not allow them to travel through the more fortified Philistine territory because the people might change their minds and return to Egypt when faced with battle.

Instead, God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea.

They took with them the bones of Joseph, honoring Joseph’s prophetic statement and final request.

Through the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night, God went ahead of them, guiding and providing light as they traveled.

The pillars of fire and cloud were examples of theophany; God appearing in a physical form, providing assurance.

The second lesson shows how the ministry of John and Jesus intersected, as Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John.

This move from his hometown, Nazareth, is necessitated by ministry positioning.

John would not baptize Jesus because he saw no need for Jesus to submit to a rite symbolizing a person’s repentance from sin.

But Jesus, on the other hand, identifies with men, recognizing his baptism will “fulfill all righteousness and through his submission approves John’s ministry.

After Jesus’ baptism and as he came out of the water, the heavens were opened.

John saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on Jesus
“And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”

Thus, the baptism became the occasion for God himself to testify to Jesus

All three persons of the Trinity appeared and participated, united but distinct.

The Holy Spirit anoints and commissions Jesus for ministry, accompanied by the heavenly voice (of God).

Although I seem not to know much in the areas of ministry, but one thing I am sure of is that I AM A LABORER sent into the fields

And my job requires strenuous physical and spiritual activities, hence I am serving my King with joy

It is worth it serving the Lord Jesus

LESSON SUMMARY IN 300 WORDS

1ST LESSON: Exodus 3:1-10

2ND LESSON: John 16:7-16

HOLY SPIRIT, OUR ADVOCATE

Having fled from Egypt, Moses lived on tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, for about 40 years.

One day, he went far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God.

There, he observed a burning bush but unconsumed, and he approached for a better look, and God called out to him by name from the fire

First, God warned that he would take off his sandal, for he now stands on the ground.

God revealed himself as the God of his father, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and Moses was afraid

God proceeded to reveal to him the plan of rescuing the distressed and oppressed children of Israel from Egypt through Moses.

Moses would go to Pharaoh and lead God’s people out of Egypt to a land flowing with milk and honey.

In the second lesson, Jesus educated his disciples because they were filled with grief when he told them he was leaving

Jesus affirmed that leaving is in the best interest of the disciples, for if he doesn’t leave, the Advocate won’t come

And when he comes, he will expose the error of the godless world’s view of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in Jesus

Righteousness will be available as Jesus goes to the Father

Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged

He added that He (Jesus) has much to tell his disciples, but they could not bear it

But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide them into all truth, telling them what he hears from the Father, even about future events

In a little while, they will not see the physical Jesus again because he will die, but he will rise from the dead and abide as the Holy Spirit.

1ST LESSON: Daniel 7:23-28

2ND LESSON: Rev 20:11-15

A REVELATION OF THE FINAL JUDGMENT

Daniel had a terrifying vision of four beasts rising from a chaotic sea and wreaking great damage, and he approached a nearby figure for interpretation.

The four huge beasts represent four kingdoms that will arise from the earth, but God’s holy people will be given the kingdom and rule forever.

The fourth beast would be a world power that would rule the earth, crushing all in its path.

He will defy the Most High, oppress his people, and try to change their sacred festivals and laws.

Some scholars believed that the vision of the fourth beast had been fulfilled in the Kingdom of Greece or Rome, and certain leaders who had unleashed atrocities against the Jews during the intertestamental period and the first century.

Most importantly, in the end, God will pass ultimate judgment and victory over the forces of evil, and God’s people will rule over all the kingdoms under heaven.

In the Revelation of John, he saw the setting of the final judgment, the white throne and the one sitting on it; the earth and sky fled from it.

He saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne, and they were judged by records in books, including the Book of Life.

Showing that God justly rewards or punishes each person according to what they have done, as recorded in the books.

The sea, Death, and Hades also gave up the dead who were in them, and they were also judged by what they had done.

As punishment, Death, Hades, and anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life were thrown into the lake of fire.

This lake of fire is the second death, eternal and conscious torment, from which believers are delivered.
