As we commence the 2026/2027 academic session, I warmly welcome all our dear pupils back to school after the holiday. I am delighted to see our learners return with renewed energy, enthusiasm and determination to learn, grow and achieve their dreams.

A new academic session presents another opportunity for every child to acquire knowledge, develop positive values, discover talents and build the skills required to become responsible and productive members of society. I therefore encourage every pupil to approach the new session with discipline, hard work, creativity, kindness and a strong commitment to academic excellence.

AGEGE LGEA EDUCATION SECRETARY, AOPSHON EXECUTIVES PAY COURTESY VISIT AHEAD OF 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION

The Agege LGEA Education Secretary, Hajia Jannat Olokodana, alongside the executive members of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), Agege Branch, on Wednesday, 9th September 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa at the Agege Local Government Secretariat.

The meeting also served as a pre-resumption engagement ahead of the 2026/2027 school academic session, providing an opportunity for the education stakeholders to review preparations and discuss issues relevant to the smooth commencement of academic activities in public primary schools across Agege.

During the meeting, the delegation expressed sincere appreciation to the Executive Chairman for his unwavering support for the primary education sector in Agege. His continued commitment to the development of schools and support for education stakeholders was acknowledged as an important contribution to creating a better environment for teaching and learning.

Hajia Jannat Bashorun-Olokodana emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between the Local Government, LGEA, school heads and other education stakeholders. She noted that effective communication, supervision and collective responsibility are essential to achieving improved educational outcomes.

The AOPSHON executives also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the LGEA in ensuring effective school administration and maintaining high standards of professionalism among primary school heads. They emphasized the need for schools to be adequately prepared, clean, safe and conducive before pupils return for the new session.

The engagement further provided a platform to strengthen the relationship between the Local Government leadership and the primary education community, while identifying areas where continued cooperation and support would be beneficial to schools, teachers and pupils.

AGEGE LGEA EDUCATION SECRETARY HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING AHEAD OF 2026/2027 SCHOOL RESUMPTION

The Agege Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) has commenced preparations for a successful and seamless 2026/2027 academic session as the Education Secretary, Hajia Jannat Olokodana, yesterday held a strategic stakeholders’ meeting with Heads of Sections, Head Teachers and Centre Coordinators across the Agege education district.

The meeting, which formed part of the Authority’s pre-resumption activities, was aimed at reviewing existing practices, identifying areas requiring improvement and ensuring that all schools and relevant educational centres are adequately prepared to receive pupils and commence academic activities effectively for the new session.

In her address, the Education Secretary emphasized the importance of effective information dissemination within the education system. She stressed that timely, accurate and appropriate communication is essential to achieving effective administration and preventing misinformation, delays and avoidable challenges in the management of schools.

She charged all Heads of Sections, Head Teachers and Centre Coordinators to ensure that official information, directives and policies are properly communicated to relevant members of staff. She further encouraged them to maintain open channels of communication and promptly escalate important issues requiring the attention of the Education Authority.

Effective School Management

Another major area of discussion was school management and administration. The Education Secretary reiterated the need for school administrators to demonstrate commitment, discipline, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

She encouraged Head Teachers and Centre Coordinators to ensure that school facilities, learning environments, administrative records and other essential resources are properly managed ahead of resumption. They were also reminded of the importance of creating a conducive, safe and orderly environment where teaching and learning can take place effectively.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss strategies for improving staff coordination, punctuality, attendance, supervision and general school administration.

Collaboration Among Stakeholders

Hajia Jannat Bashorun-Olokodana further underscored the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders in education.

She noted that the responsibility for delivering quality education cannot rest on one individual or institution alone. Rather, it requires the collective efforts of education administrators, teachers, parents, pupils, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders.

She therefore encouraged the Head Teachers and Centre Coordinators to maintain positive relationships with parents, community members and other stakeholders, while ensuring that such collaborations remain focused on improving pupils’ educational experiences and overall development.

School Enrollment and Admission Procedures

The issue of school enrollment was also extensively discussed, with emphasis placed on ensuring that prospective pupils and their parents are properly guided through the appropriate enrollment procedures.

The Education Secretary encouraged school administrators to make the enrollment process transparent, accessible and properly coordinated. She emphasized the importance of providing parents and guardians with accurate information regarding available schools, admission procedures and other relevant requirements.

She also stressed the need for schools to support efforts aimed at increasing enrollment and ensuring that children of school age are given the opportunity to access quality basic education.

Collective Responsibility for a Successful Session

The stakeholders were reminded that the success of the 2026/2027 academic session will depend largely on the preparedness, commitment and cooperation of everyone within the education system.

Hajia Jannat Bashorun-Olokodana called on all participants to approach the new academic session with renewed dedication, professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility. She encouraged them to work collectively towards addressing challenges, improving school administration and creating better learning outcomes for pupils across Agege LGEA.

The meeting therefore served as an important platform for planning, coordination, information sharing and strategic preparation ahead of the new academic session.

The Education Secretary of Agege Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Hajia Jannat Olokodana paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akinola Idowu, as part of ongoing engagements with key stakeholders in the community.

During the visit, Hajia Jannat Bashorun-Olokodana presented the campaign souvenir of Rt. Hon. Dr. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, in connection with his aspiration to represent the good people of Agege Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The presentation provided an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the education sector and the local government administration while highlighting the importance of collaboration, effective representation, community development and continued commitment to the people of Agege.

Celebrating Excellence, Innovation & the Future of Our Young Minds

On the 4th of September, I had the privilege of joining the Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon. Abdulganiyu Vinod Obasa, as we celebrated the successful completion of the Agege Coding & Robotics Programme.

It was truly inspiring to see our young people receive their certificates after completing the programme. As the Education Secretary of Agege Local Government, I am particularly passionate about initiatives like this because I believe education goes beyond the classroom. Giving our children access to technology, coding and robotics is an investment in their creativity, confidence and ability to contribute meaningfully to the future.

I am also deeply honoured to have received an Award of Excellence in recognition of my contribution to the programme. I sincerely appreciate this recognition, and I am grateful to the Chairman for providing the platform and leadership that made this initiative possible.

I remain committed to supporting initiatives that empower our young minds and create opportunities for them to learn, innovate and dream bigger.

Agege LGA Graduates Young Minds in Coding and Robotics, Equipping Pupils with 21st-Century Skills

Agege Local Government Area has taken another significant step towards preparing young people for the demands of the digital age with the successful graduation of pupils who participated in a four-week Coding and Robotics Skill Acquisition Programme organised by the Executive Chairman of Agege LGA, Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa.

The initiative, designed to expose young minds to emerging technologies, reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening education and empowering pupils with practical skills that go beyond the traditional classroom experience. Through the programme, participating pupils were introduced to the fundamentals of coding, robotics, computational thinking, problem-solving, creativity and technological innovation.

The four-week training provided the pupils with an opportunity to learn, experiment and develop their understanding of how technology can be used to solve real-life problems. By introducing coding and robotics at an early age, the programme seeks to nurture a generation of young people who are not merely consumers of technology but can also become creators, innovators and future technology leaders.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Agege LGA Council Hall, was attended by representatives of the Executive and Legislative Arms of the Council, parents, stakeholders and other members of the community who came to celebrate the achievements of the young graduates.

The Vice Chairman of Agege LGA, Hon. Sodiq Azeez, led the Council delegation to the ceremony, where he represented the Executive Chairman and joined other dignitaries in celebrating the pupils for successfully completing the intensive four-week programme.

Also present was the Education Secretary of Agege LGEA, Hajia Jannat Olokodana, whose presence further underscored the importance of education, innovation and skills development in the transformation of young people's lives.

The Legislative Arm of the Council, led by the Council Leader, Hon. Haruna Adeshina, also graced the occasion alongside other Honourable Councillors. Their participation demonstrated the collective commitment of the Council leadership to initiatives that promote quality education, youth development and technological advancement within Agege.

Speaking on the significance of the programme, the initiative can be viewed as an investment in the future of Agege. In a rapidly changing world where digital literacy and technological competence are increasingly important, exposing pupils to coding and robotics from an early stage can help them develop valuable skills such as logical reasoning, teamwork, creativity, critical thinking and innovation.

The programme also represents an important bridge between education and the future workplace. As technology continues to influence virtually every sector of the economy, equipping children with relevant 21st-century skills gives them a stronger foundation to adapt to emerging opportunities in science, technology, engineering and other technology-driven fields.

The graduation ceremony was therefore not merely a celebration of the completion of a four-week training programme; it was a celebration of possibility, innovation and the potential of Agege's young generation.

The initiative further reinforces the importance of collaboration between local government, educational institutions, teachers, parents and other stakeholders in creating an enabling environment where children can discover their talents and develop practical skills.

Their successful completion of the programme is a reminder that, when young people are given the right opportunities, guidance and resources, they can acquire skills capable of shaping their future and contributing meaningfully to society.

Agege LGEA Education Secretary Hosts Special Prayer Session for Lagos Assembly Speaker and APC Candidates Ahead of 2027

The Education Secretary of Agege Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Hajia Jannat Olokodana, on Wednesday, 2nd September 2026, organised a special prayer session at the Hon. Abiodun Adaranijo Hall, Agege, in support of the political aspirations of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly as he seeks to represent the people of Agege at the Federal House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections, alongside other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The gathering brought together an impressive array of political leaders, community stakeholders, religious organisations, educationists and other supporters from across Agege. It provided an opportunity for participants to come together in prayer, seeking divine guidance, wisdom, protection and success for the Speaker and other APC candidates as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually gather momentum.

The prayer session reflected the organisers' belief in the importance of prayer, unity and collective support in the pursuit of public service and leadership. It also demonstrated the strong relationship between community stakeholders and political leaders in Agege, while providing a platform for people from different backgrounds and organisations to unite for a common purpose.

Among the prominent political stakeholders present was the APC Agege Chairman, Alhaji Fatai Bisiriyu, whose presence added significant political weight to the gathering. Also in attendance was the APC Orile-Agege Chairman, Hon. Alaba Odunbaku Alase, alongside the Orile-Agege Secretary to the Local Council Development Area, Hon. Fitila Ladipo.

The Agege LGA Council Leader Hon Haruna Adeshina and Orile-Agege LCDA Council Leader, Hon. Afolabi Abdulkareem, were also present at the event which further demonstrated the participation of the legislative leadership and political stakeholders within the community.

Other notable personalities included the APC Lagos State Assistant Welfare Secretary, Hon. Kafilat Akanni Pedro, and the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Permanent Board Member, Hon. Sherifat Abiodun Adedoyin. Their attendance highlighted the broad support and interest generated by the prayer session.

The event also witnessed the participation of the Supervisory Councillors of Orile-Agege LCDA, who joined other political leaders and community stakeholders in the prayer gathering.

Religious Organisations Unite in Prayer

One of the notable features of the event was the participation of various religious and women-oriented organisations, demonstrating the inclusive nature of the gathering.

Representatives and members of organisations including FOMWAN, COMWAN and Nawarudeen, among several others, were present to offer prayers and support.
