At first light, King Darius rushed to the lions’ den, terrified of what he would find.

The stone was removed.

Then Darius cried out:
“Daniel! Servant of the living God! Has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”

For a moment, there was only silence...
Then Daniel answered.

God had sent an angel and shut the lions’ mouths. Daniel was alive—and not even a scratch was found on him.

Daniel knew exactly what awaited him beyond the stone entrance.

King Darius watched helplessly as Daniel was led into a den filled with hungry lions. The massive stone was rolled into place, the king’s seal was pressed onto it, and Daniel was left alone in the darkness.

But Daniel did not panic.

Surrounded by lions, he prayed to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel—the God he had trusted his entire life.

Then something happened that no one expected…

When the officials brought evidence that Daniel had broken the royal decree, Darius was devastated. He quickly realized that the law he had signed was nothing more than a carefully designed trap.

But there was one problem: the law of the Medes and Persians could not be changed.

Daniel stood before the king and refused to deny his faith in the God of Israel. Now Darius had to watch as his most trusted servant was led toward the lions’ den.

Based on Daniel 6:11–14.
