Uzoamaka Power; Del-York Creative Academy alumna, award-winning actress, and screenwriter, has done something quietly extraordinary with Call of My Life. She took a story that began as three abandoned pages on a Word document in 2018 and turned it into one of Nollywood's most talked-about films of the year.

The film follows Soluchi, a hopeless romantic working at a call centre in Lagos, whose life shifts when a single phone call opens the door to a love she had stopped believing in. Uzoamaka didn't only write that character. She became her.

Call of My Life is in cinemas now. Go get your tickets, this one is not to be missed.

One of Nollywood's most respected producers — James Omokwe's story is one for the books.

Starting out as an actor, James made the shift into production and built a career that reshaped Nigerian television. He produced and directed Ajoche, Riona, Itura, and Diiche, Showmax's first-ever Nigerian original series. Most recently, his film Osamede premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Market. A full-circle moment for a man whose story began right here at Del-York Creative Academy.

In this video, James breaks down his work as a producer and what Del-York Creative Academy gave him that no amount of hustle alone could.

The next story could be yours.

Two Del-York Creative Academy alumni walked into the 2026 AMVCAs with one film, and walked out with the Best Short Film award.
Josh Olaoluwa and Orire Nwani. Coursemates turned collaborators. Their short film, "Hussaini," beat out a competitive field to claim one of the most celebrated prizes of the night.

Josh has produced #1 titles on both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. He is the first international fellow ever accepted into the Film Independent Project Involve programme in Los Angeles.

Orire has taken films to the New York Tri-State Film Festival, Nollywood Week Paris, and the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington D.C.

For both of them, it started with a decision to train.

Congratulations, Josh and Orire. We are immensely proud.

We were honoured to host H.E. Jens Ole Bach Hansen, Ambassador of Denmark to Nigeria, at Del-York Creative Academy this week, where we had a meaningful afternoon of conversation on the creative economy, people-to-people exchange, and the shared belief that talent, when truly nurtured, builds industries, not just careers.

From Del-York Creative Academy to YAPPI, Re-Skill Africa, and Kebulania: Lagos Film City, we walked the Ambassador through the work shaping Africa's next generation of creatives, and explored how Nigeria and Denmark can build something lasting, together.

A special thank you to H.E. Hansen for the warmth, the candour, and the vision. The conversations sparked here are only the beginning.

The future of Africa's creative industry is being built here.
