TOPIC: COME AFTER ME

TEXT: MARK 1:16-18; MATT. 16:24-26

This was the instruction Jesus gave to Simon, Andrew and many others. And He is still giving the same to us today. No one can be His disciple without Eph. 4:17-19, 22-32. As a born again Christian, self denial in our Christian lives is very important for our spiritual growth. We cannot be in conformity with this world and expect to be friends with God, this is impossible. We need to deny ourselves of something in order to enforce our spiritual growth.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO COME AFTER HIM?

It is a call to Salvation. Matt. 11:28-30

It means to follow, to succeed, to be a successor of someone.

It means to be like Jesus in everything. To emulate Him, to conform to His image and likeness. Gen. 1:26.

To adhere, hearken, abide by and obey every word or instruction of His. Matt. 11:29.

To worship and serve Him with our lives by forsaking other things. Mark 1:19-21.

Ultimately, to become His disciple. Luke 9:23

The ultimate goal of our Lord Jesus Christ for calling us out of the darkness i. e. after receiving Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour is to be like Him in everything but this cannot be achieved until we answer the second call which is to "come after Him". We cannot be like Him until these processes are achieved in us. Matt. 16:24-26

SELF DENIAL Phil. 3:7-8; Phil. 2:3-8

It is a state of not giving unnecessary attention and recognition to yourself.

A state where material, possession, attainment does not have meaning or dictate what you do again

A state where you are no more under the control of your flesh; flesh is not the one dictating your actions.

Rejection of natural human inclination towards selfishness. John 13:1-17

Willingness to let go of oneself in order to grow in holiness and commitment to God.

Overcoming the persistent fleshy demands of the body. Gal. 5:24

Renouncing oneself as the center of existence which goes against the natural inclination of the human will and recognizing Jesus Christ as one's new and true centre. Col. 3:3-5

It means seeking the good of others before looking out for yourself. 1Cor.10:24; Ruth 2:11

THE S*X YOU MUST NOT HAVE.

1. You must never agree to have s*x with a married man no matter what he promises or professes. Never!

2. Never agree to have s*x with your boss. If the harassment becomes too much, resign and trust God for a better job.

3. If God put people under your care to mentor or Pastor, it is better you die than to have s*x with them. Never take advantage of God’s people no matter what.

4. Don’t have s*x with a married woman. If you are getting too much attached via chatting, official or academic rapport, break up the closeness or whatever name you have for it.

5. Never have s*x with your lecturers. S*x for grades or marks is for nonentity. You are not. Never must you be.

6. If you are a marketer, never agree to sleep with a prospective client just to meet your official target. Never!

7. Don’t have s*x with your in-laws. If he or she stays with you and you are finding it difficult to resist the pull, let him or her leave. I mean latest tomorrow.

8. Don’t have s*x with your neighbour or colleague. A neighbour is a neighbour. A colleague is a colleague. Don’t get your life more complicated.

9. Don’t have s*x with your platonic friend. If the relationship is no longer platonic, break up the thing.

10. I believe God created s*x to be between male and female. Stay away from having s*x with your same gender. God is against homos*xuality and so should you.

11. Don’t have s*x with your sibling or relatives. In**st is vile.

12. Don’t have s*x with your girlfriend. Don’t have s*x with your boyfriend. God did not create s*x for love relationships. He created it for MARRIAGE.

The only s*x you should have is with your legally wedded partner.

I'm In Love with my Pastor!

We were two in my room at school. We attended same fellowship. We were workers together at the fellowship.

Time to time, the pastor comes around to pick my room mate for visitation and evangelism. It was getting too frequent , and I will always imagine, where is the pastor's wife? Where were the brothers at the church? Where were the other sisters at the church? Why must it be this same room mate of mine everyday and every time. She was neither a member of evangelism nor visitation unit. She was a choir member.

A little time after that, the sister told me she was receiving the pastor as her husband in her dreams. Ah! What? A married pastor with kids!
I told her straight a way, the dreams came from the pit of hell.

Revelations that are against the scriptures are not from God. You can't receive an already married man as your husband.

Sometimes after that, God revealed to me what was happening between the pastor and my room mate. I started having series of revelations about them. I confronted the sister first. I shared the revelations with her. She was so afraid and confessed how the pastor has been tempted severally to touch her breast and kissed her. Although she didn't tell me if he has ever slept with her, because I asked that.

Don't be deceived! A married brother cannot be your husband again. God is not an author of confusion says the word. Don't let the man of God fall or fail. Reduce an unnecessary interaction with them.

A man of God that does not want to fail, should not be playing with fire. An opposite s*x is fire. Don't be unnecessarily close to an opposite s*x in the name of spiritual exercise. Involve others if need be.

Don't always choose a particular sister or brother for tasks that can also be done by others. When you are tending to lust, be sincere.

Everyone knows when lust comes. Discontinue every relationship that has arouse lust in you. If not, you will fall.

Eventually, the sister left the fellowship to discontinue the evil relationship. She later revealed a lot that has happened between them.

Don't let anyone despise your youth in the name of a pastor. Don't be misled! The pastor promised her marriage. This is against the scripture.

Most youths and single ladies love their pastors and mentors but be careful, don't do anything that will lead them to sin. They are human like you. God only empowered them for the spiritual assignment and for perfecting the saint(church).

They still have feelings just like you. Don't arouse a negative feelings through your attitude to them. Let us be very careful and sensitive of the flocks too, as ministers.

Don't ever encourage lust. Kill it immediately when you sense it. Know that there is no one that can't be tempted to sin except you watch and pray. Terminate lust at pregnancy stage. It can kill!

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.James:1:15

Theme: The Real Gospel

Topic: Salvation 2

By the grace of today, we shall continue from where we stopped last week. We have been able to check what salvation is not, what it is and why salvation comes in. Today we shall be considering another fundamental and very critical truth about salvation.
There wouldn't have been anything like salvation if not for the deception of Satan to lure us into sin that led to separation between God and man that resulted into spiritual death. For God to restore mankind into the relationship and heritage He has for us, salvation is introduced through the sacrifice of His dear son Jesus Christ.

LEVELS OF SALVATION

1. Initial Salvation: Gen 3:10

This is the salvation that reconnects our spirit man back to God. It lightens up our darkened heart. 1Pet.2:9. It restores our spirit being back to God. It makes us friends with God again. It gives us forgiveness and cancels our debt of sin. It opportunes us to call Abba Father. It gives the spirit of adoption and certifies us as sons and daughters of God. It makes us born again. John 3:3. This salvation comes as a realization of our sin, confessing it, and repenting and forsaking them all. This gives Christ and Holy Spirit chance to dwell in us. But the work of salvation does not end here. Salvation is not a day job.

2. Salvation of our soul: Phil. 2:10; 1Pet1:9-10.

This is the level of salvation that brings us to perfection. Without the salvation of our soul there is no perfection. Salvation of our soul is the conscious effort of each believer with the help of Holy Spirit and work of Grace to work on our soul to become unblemished, pure and holy even to the extent of working in the spirit. Soul is a very essential aspect of our life that must get saved. The scripture even warns us to guide our soul jealousy. This cannot be possible until he experience salvation. What makes our soul able to resist and overcome temptation is the salvation of the soul. It doesn't happen once. It is gradual not a day job. What makes it easier is your willingness, yielding, your consciousness, work of Grace and help of Holy Spirit.

Text: Mark 16:15-18
Introduction
The word "gospel" is from the Greek word "Soterial" which means message of salvation. The only power to save and deliver is the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Gospel means God's Own Son Preaching Eternal Life. There is no other message that can save people from sin and death than the message of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 1:16. Any other message gives religion not salvation. That is reason many Christians today are so religious because they were brought to denomination not to Christ. The only message that has brought, bringing and will bring people to the knowledge of Christ is the gospel. The gospel of salvation is the total gospel.

A. What Salvation is not. 2Tim 3:5

1. Salvation is not going to church

2. It is not having a Christian name

3. It is not having Christian parents

4. It is not miracle of healing and breakthrough

5. Salvation is religion

6. It is not church activities or position

B. What is Salvation. 2Cor 5:17

Salvation is the one of the key concepts of God's revelation to humanity. The biblical idea of salvation involves three notions.
1. Salvation is the rescue from danger, harm or even death of an individual, group or nation. Most specifically salvation is the rescue from sin and death. Rom. 6:23.

2. Salvation is the renewing of the spirit. Scripture explains that humanity fell from the original condition of the moral purity into the state of sin. God's salvation always renews the spirit of a person to lead a life that is morall pleasing to God.

3. Salvation is the restoration of a right relationship with God. One of the effects of sin is the separation from God. Bible makes it clear that salvation restores one's relationship with God. Rom. 5:10
In both OT and NT Salvation includes includes rescue, renewal and restoration and is accomplished through the person and work of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour

C. Why Salvation? Gen 3:1-15

The OT gives many examples of a type of physical salvation to teach about the more important spiritual salvation. The teaching of salvation begins in the first three chapters of Genesis. Chapter three explains how sin entered into God's created order and God's promise of salvation through the seed of the woman. Gen. 3:15. Even though male and female were created in the image of God, now God's image is marred in all mankind. The result of sin includes death and separation.

Many marriages are just for sleeping and waking up, raising kids and ageing together till death comes. This is not right. Marriage must be enjoyable and romantic.

1.Many couples hardly kiss and they only hug each other when they receive good news.
2. The husband only puts food in his wife's mouth only when she is terminally ill and cant feed herself.
3. If you see a man opening car door for his wife means the door is faulty.
4. The only thing that makes an african man touch his wife's neck is when she complains of fever. He wont touch it again till the next fever.
5.The only time he can carry his wife on his arms is when she is in labour.
6. If you see them seated outside at night, dont think they are romantic. They are only waiting for the smell of insecticide to vanish.
7.Many wives buy gifts for their husbands only when they are hospitalized.
8.The only time they race together is when there is danger and everyone is running.
9.The only time they go for evening stroll is when they want to go and lay a complain to the parents of the person that beat their child
10. The only time they bath together is when both are late for work.
11. The only time a wife looks closely to her husband's eyes is when he complains of dirt in his eyes.
Unfortunately, Africans feel that any romantic man is being controlled by his wife. They will begin to spread bad rumours. Let us just change today for the better. Let us learn to love one another and enjoy the few days we have on earth together!

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD READ THESE 30 RULES FOR GODLY WOMEN-----------

1). Never raise your voice for any reason to your husband. Its a sign of disrespect.(Prov 15v1)

2). Don't expose your husband's weaknesses to your family and friends. It will bounce back at you.You are each other's keeper.(Eph 5v12)

3). Never use attitudes and moods to communicate to your husband, you never know how your husband will interpret them. Defensive women don't have a happy home.(Prov 15v13)

5). Never ill treat your husband's friends because you don't like them, the person who's supposed to get rid of them is your husband.(Prov 11v22)

6). Never forget that your husband married you, not your maid or anyone else. Do your duties.(Gen 2v24)

7). Never assign anyone to give attention to your husband, people may do everything else but your husband is your own responsibility.(Eph 5v33)

8). Never blame your husband if he comes back home empty handed. Rather encourage him.(Deut 3v28)

9). Never be a wasteful wife, your husband's sweat is too precious to be wasted.

10). Never pretend to be sick for the purpose of denying your husband s*x. You must give it to him how he wants it. S*x is very important to Men, if you keep denying him, it is a matter of time before another woman takes over your duty. No man can withstand s*x starvation for too long(even the anointed ones)

11). Never compare your husband to your one time s*x mate in bedroom, or an Ex-lover. Your home may Never recover from it if you do.

12). Never answer for your husband in public opinion polls, let him handle what is directed to him although he may answer for you in public opinion polls.(Prov 31v23)

13). Never shout or challenge your husband in front of children. Wise Women don't do that.(Eph 4v31)

14). Don't forget to check the smartness of your husband before he checks out.(Prov 12v4)

15). Never allow your friends to be too close to your husband.

16). Never be in a hurry in the bathroom and on the dressing table. Out there your husband is always surrounded by women who took their time on their looks.( 1 Sam25v3)

17). Your parents or family or friends do not have the final say in your marriage. Don't waste your time looking up to them for a final word. You must Leave if you want to Cleave.(Luke 21v16)

18). Never base your love on monetary things. Will you still submit to him even if you earn more money than him?

19). Don't forget that husbands want attention and good listeners, never be too busy for him. Good communication is the bed rock of every happy home. (Gal 6v9)

20). If your idea worked better than his, never compare yourself to him. Its always teamwork.(Gal 6v10)

21). Don't be too judgemental to your husband. No man wants a Nagging wife.(Eph 4v29)

22). A lazy wife is a careless wife. She doesn't even know that her body needs a bath.(Prov 24v27)(Prov 20v13)

23). Does your husband like a kind of cooked food?, try to change your cooking. No man jokes with food. (Prov 31v14)

24). Never be too demanding to your husband,enjoy every moment, resource as it comes.(Luke 11v3)

25). Make a glass of water the very first welcome to your husband and everyone entering your home. Sweetness of attitude is true beauty. (Prov 31v11)

26). Don't associate with women who have a wrong mental attitude about marriage.(Prov 22v14)

27). Your marriage is as valuable to you as the value that you give it. Recklessness is unacceptable.(Heb 13v4)

28). Fruit of the womb is a blessing from the Lord, love your children and teach them well.(Prov 22v6)

29). You are never too old to influence your home. Never reduce your care for your family for any reason. (Prov 31v28)

30). A prayerful wife is a better equipped wife, pray always for your husband and family(1 Thess 5v17)

Topic: Effective Communication in Marriage

People of God, tonight we want quickly rub minds together on how to communicate effectively in our relationship with our spouse. This has been one of the areas Satan has been using to destroy marriages and christian marriages are not exempted.: When communication is faulty, misunderstanding abounds and will lead so many chaos in the marriage. When you see a marriage that is doing well, I bet it with you that communication is effective in such a marriage. One thanking of the vital ingredients that sweetens marriage is communication. When it breaks, marriage breaks. That's why couple must devote at least 30 minutes to talk with each other daily. Many couple don't communicate until there is a financial need or want to have s*x. And this has made some couple to be strangers to each other. : They don't share feelings, pains failures and success to the extent that they even know each other's whereabouts. God communicates well and want us to do likewise. Gen1:26, Isaiah 1:18
Let me quickly share with us on how to communicate effectively in marriage

1. Appreciate your spouse daily.
Simple note, text message or compliment can go along way in a relationship. Just letting your spouse know that he or she is appreciated that their efforts aren't going unnoticed can make them feel loved. Telling your spouse; you are beautiful; I love you; thank you for this soup. The only time you see some men talking about their wives soup is when there is fault. According to Jonathan Robinson, he said that the number thing is that people want to be understood and they want to feel like their emotions ate being valued.

2. Active Listening
What many couple do is hearing not listening. In other to fully take in what your spouse is saying to you, you must do what I call "Emphatic Listening" which means listening and responding not only with solution or options but with sharing your spouse feelings or thought.

3. Make Contact
Don't underestimate the power of simple gesture. You can say a lot without saying a word just by holding hands or giving a hug.

Shifting blames to your your spouse when there is an argument will not change them but turns their their ears off.

5. Ask Questions
You might have been married a long time but you'd be surprised to know that there's still a lot to learn

: With my little knowledge and experience as a minister of the gospel and marriage counselor, I discovered that many people aspire for best and right homes but it is a pity that only few experience it. Some manage theirs while many endure it. Many people believers even told in the course of counseling that they prayed and were convinced that they received from God before embarking ón the journey. They asked where did they miss it?
My people, I can categorically tell you that you may pray and receive your partner but that only does not guarantee you to right marriage. Beloved, there somethings we pray God for to change in our marriage that it is as if God has neglected our marriage but God does not but just telling to sit down and check within and correct something in yourself.
Many people pray for right partner without paying attention to their own life may be they even right for the right partner they wish to have.
If I may ask, from the singles in the house, if your character becomes a lady will you marry her.? This question must not be answered in a rush. Look inward and check if you can cope with your character as a wife if you cannot it means you can never have a right marriage. I'm not cursing it is a bitter truth.
What is right marriage?
Right marriage is when the two partners involved are right in their characters and attitudes, understand their roles and responsibilities and are paying the price to make their marriage works. This does not mean that both are perfect but right. Being right here doesn't mean they're compatible but both have worked upon themselves to understand the being and doings of marriage
It means both are free from traditions and customs of this world and have the right and biblical knowledge of marriage.
What do I mean? Many marriages are not working today because one or both parties hold unto the ways their forefathers ran their marriage in the 21st century.
Many are running their marriages according to the system of the world. It can't work. Many based their marriages on fantasy.

Topic:MAN AND HOLY SPIRIT

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen."

The father, son and Holy Spirit are supposed to be a part and parcel of every man as apportioned from the onset of days.
I will like to remind us that MAN existed from onset due to the presence of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, we read and see more of the name *“Spirit of God”* instead of the New Testament where more of the name *“Holy Spirit”* is used. What am I trying to say in essence, Wherever we see the Spirit of God or the Holy Spirt, they all mean the same thing.Also, the Spirit of God, Holy Spirit and God are also one; that’s the concept of trinity which I will assume everyone of us understand here. (Of course, we can ask questions when need be)

Back to where I started. Having understood the fore-said, we can see clearly from Genesis Chapter 1 and 2 that the creation of man was a collective process and agreement of the Trinity and man would have not existed if such hadn’t been the case.

Gen. 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and *breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;* and man became a living soul. {of the dust...: Heb. dust of the ground} (KJV)
The Spirit of God hath made me, and *the breath* of the Almighty hath given me life. (KJV)
Emphasis is definitely on *the breathe of life* which represents the Spirit of God in MAN. Little wonder, immediately the Spirit entered man after creation, a necessary requirement for man’s sustenance was introduced and properly communicated unto him. THOU SHALT NOT! Why? Because Man was now carrying something greater than him, something that really sustained his existence, relevance and productivity. No wonder God asserted that: *for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.* Death is the ending of all vital functions or processes in an organism and that is exactly hat happened when man sinned. Man became excommunicated from the Godly family of dominion and productivity. Hence, a need to start toiling for basic needs before they can be met.
: Actually, I don’t know if we are understanding me cos its supposed to be a teaching. Because of time, God is bringing us back to the knowledge that He created us to depend fully on Him (Spirit) to have ALL our supplies met in all ramifications.

I don’t need to remind us that as a MAN, we have the responsibility of ensuring everything under our jurisdiction be properly managed, handled and taken cared of. Hence, we are expected to bring everyone under our tutelage to the knowledge of the recognition, acceptance and relationship with the Holy Spirit. This will conspicuously start from US as the head of the house.
Thank God for his benevolent love, he Promised us the return of His Spirit, first by sending His son Jesus to clear the part, purify us and make the world ready for the return of the Holy Spirit to the earth officially after being extradited from the earth in the Adamic days.
The Holy Spirit is what Dr. Myles Munroe in one of his books call *“THE GOVERNOR”*

The governor was apportioned by the King (God) who intends to make this earth one of His colony. He decided to create men to act as kings here on earth while the Governor teaches us how we reign successfully on earth and subdue the earth, making the earth be just like the kingdom of Heaven
: Mt 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. : The only person that can make this happen is the Holy Spirit. That’s why we noticed that any man that decides to yield himself to God always record extraordinary achievements (Am sure you can give several examples of such in the bible and our contemporary age)

Having known that the Holy Spirt was supposed to be a part and parcel of our lives as man; inasmuch we are ready to fulfil the mandate of our Father on earth, it is paramount that we as a matter of life and death value our communion, fellowship and relationship with the Holy Spirt.: He is a living being, he can talk, can see, can be felt etc. I challenge us to brace up to getting to know who He is the more, getting to relate more with Him and getting to listen to His dictates, directions and ensure compliance to directives.
Show me a man full with the Holy Spirit, showing forth the fruit of the Spirit and not just concerned with the gifts of the Spirit, I will show you a man living in Dominion, Productivity, goodly&godly results and victory in all areas.
What does this imply?

Whatever area of lack of our life presently is only an *indication that we have not allowed the work of His Spirit on us in that aspect yet or fully.*
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is SAME as carrying THE AMIGHTY GOD around… Come to think of it, Can I carry God and still sin? Can I carry God and still fail? Can I carry God and still be poor, broke and in debt? Can I carry God and still have difficulty training my wards in the way of God? How can I carry God and have nothing to show for it? *GOD FORBID!* If any of these is your experience tonight, I challenge us to take them to that LORD you really carry.
CRY TO THE HOLY GHOST FOR Help! COME TO MY RESCUE OH LORD DELIVER ME FROM AN EMPTY Life. *I CANT CARRY YOU AND STILL FAIL IN THIS ASPECT OF MY LIFE LORD…OOHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO* I hope someone seeing this is angry in the Spirit already?

: *MAN and HOLY SPIRIT!!!!*
The Holy Spirit is a helper of man, a teacher, a comforter….. COME AND SHOW YOURSELF IN MY LIFE.
: I remember using this verse while I was on campus: *Job 32: 8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.* How can I be below, be a failure, etc. while I claim to carry His full presence???
*LET IT BE OBVIOUS TO THE WORLD THAT I CARRY YOU,.. (Speak to the LORD)* For in Jesus name we have prayed.

: And in case you are here and not yet filled with the Holy Spirit or you are still feeling empty now despite being a believer, hear this! the bible says in
_John 20: 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: (KJV)_
I also speak under the inspiration of the Almighty that: * RECEIVE THE HOLY GHOST IN THE NAME OF JESUS* (Amen)

Let me start by saying, The greatest discovery of my lifetime is the habitual companionship with the Person of the Holy Spirit. Since the day i realized this great advantage of intimacy, there is an unusual joy and breakthrough in my life. A life (man) without the person of holy spirit will end up in frustration
The best companion we have is not our spouse, parent, friend, boss or our pastor; holy spirit is the best companion we can have. The dangerous act of the nowadays christian is that, we have systematically limited holy spirit to our worship centres and services, and depend on our own strategies for the rest of the week.
No wonder we have recorded less exploits in our daily endeavours
At the departure of Christ from earth, He promised us another person.
He practically described the person as our helper, comforter and the Spirit of truth.

Why then do you and i think we can navigate our lives without him.
Lets examine few facts about Holy Spirit:

1. He is a person and not a fire, wind or a white dove (Acts 14:16). We are the body for the Holy Spirit. In fact the bible called us the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Anytime i want to speak to him, i talk to him like am speaking with my wife.

2. Holy Spirit creates us (Job 33:4). Scriptures described him as the giver of life

3. He is the author of the word of God (2 Pet 1:21; 2 Tim 3:16-17)

: 4. Holy Spirit is an Intercessor (Rom 8:26).

No matter how long you pray, it is still Holy Spirit that gives meaning to your prayer before the Father
That's why it is more preferable and profitable to pray in the Holy Ghost.
I have seen folks in Church who thinks they can pray with their energies and i have also seen folks who thinks praying must be done until your tongue turns....
But anytime i pray in the holy ghost, i am talking to the Father and not to man
Let me share this testimony with you....
I needed to pick up two certificates for an urgent processing, both certificates had stayed very long without picking due to my negligence.
When i shared it with people around me, they discouraged me more, on surfing the internet it added fuel to my fire.
I related it to the holy spirit in prayer, to my greatest surprise, when i got to the place to pick, i was even shivering because i expected them to embarrass me but the woman that attended to me said, are you ready for it, with fear i said yes, she said i will pay #2,500.
It was as if am dreaming
Can i close on this note?
It is possible to rejoice in the fact that Christ is risen and you have been saved without passing on to experience the endowment with power promised by the risen Christ (Acts 1:8) And you shall receive POWER when you receive the HOLY GHOST.

: 1. The hallmark of the holy spirit you carry is not only limited to tongues, it is the power given to us to be a confident and consistent witness.

: 2. We cannot have the fruits (exploits of the Spirit) without the Roots (power of the Spirit)

3. The two experiences above are possible with our consistent intimacy with the Holy Spirit.

Finally, i recommend you all to keep the coals of your spiritual altars burning, because if not another spirit will take over.
