♟️🏆 FROM THE CHESSBOARD TO THE LAGOS STATE TEAM!
What a performance from Mercy Ologun of Platform School! 🔥
I had the privilege of accompanying my student Mercy, to the Lagos Intermediate Trials, a three day classical chess tournament organised to select players for the Lagos State Intermediate Team that will represent the state at the National Intermediate Festival in October.
Mercy competed against strong female players from across Lagos, including players from Lagos State University, UNILAG, Corona School, and several other institutions.
And she didn't just participate…
SHE DOMINATED! 🏆🔥
Mercy emerged as the overall winner of the trials with a perfect score, displaying remarkable composure, confidence and consistency throughout the three days of classical chess.
As her coach, I am incredibly proud of this achievement. Watching a young player put in the work, trust the process and then deliver when it matters most is one of the greatest rewards of coaching. ❤️♟️

Your victory is another reminder that with the right environment, dedication, discipline and support, our young chess players can compete at the highest levels.
