“INSULTIVE” “INSULTING” WHICH ONE DOES NOT EXIST?
There’s a common mix-up between these two words but let’s fix it now.
In Nigeria, some people say “You’re very Insultive” when they mean someone is being rude, but is that correct?
“Insultive” isn’t a word in English, infact it doesn’t exist in the standard English vocabulary.
The correct word is “Insulting”
“Insulting” means being offensive, rude, or disrespectful.
Example: “You’re being very insulting with that tone.”
Swap “Insultive” for “insulting” and you’re good to go.

These three words do not mean what you thought they meant! 😊
📌1. SUMPTUOUS
You might have thought that it means “delicious” referring to a meal, but that’s wrong. The word “sumptuous” means magnificent, luxurious, and splendid. It can be used, often in a sensory way, to describe food that is elaborately cooked or large in quantity.
Example: The sumptuous feast included caviar and fine wine.
📌2. RAMIFICATIONS
Most people mistake this word to mean “all areas” – that’s why you’ll hear someone saying “may God bless you in all ramifications”. But this word actually refers to the consequences of an action, often the negative ones.
Example: “The ramifications of the policy change were severe unemployment rates”
📌3. BOGUS
I know what comes to mind when you hear this word is “big” or “large”. But it actually means something that’s fake or counterfeit, often with a hint of deceit.
Example: He was arrested for trying to cash a bogus check at the bank.

THESE FIVE EXPRESSIONS ARE INCORRECT
❌STOP USING THEM❌
📌1. He is my senior brother ❌
He is my elder brother 👍
The term "senior" typically refers to someone's rank, position, or status, often implying superiority or higher authority. When referring to family relationships, it's more appropriate to use "elder" to show respect and indicate age difference.
📌2. I and my friend are going ❌
My friend and I are going 👍
In English, it's more polite and grammatically correct to mention the other person first in a plural subject.
📌3. She is looking angry ❌
She looks angry 👍
The correct phrase uses the verb "looks" to describe someone's appearance or expression.
📌4. He is more stronger than me ❌
He is stronger than me 👍
When comparing, "stronger" is the correct comparative form; "more" isn't needed.
📌5. I have a lot of homeworks ❌
I have a lot of homework 👍
"Homework" is an uncountable noun, so it doesn't take a plural form.

Hey amazing teachers! Hope you're having a blast on your holiday 🎉. Today was the day we scheduled to kick off our free ESL training, but we’ve decided to extend it inorder to accommodate more people.
So, why am I doing this? A few weeks ago, a colleague from Akwa Ibom State reached out lamenting how she’s struggling financially, and asked for ₦10,000 to enable her get some food stuff. I helped, but few weeks later she came back requesting for a loan of - ₦50,000 to complete her rent. That's when I thought, "How can I really help?" Indeed, She has a goldmine of a skill, infact, being a teacher in this 21st century is a blessing, but do you know how to leverage that skill?
Well, I asked if she'd considered ESL tutoring, and shockingly, she didn't even know what ESL was! I didn't blame her; I was in Uyo, though i knew about ESL, but didn't know how to get in.
So, I thought, instead of spending the whole time teaching just her, I could let a few more people benefit from it too. This training's goal is to help teachers like us, stuck in low-paying schools, especially outside Lagos. ESL can change that! In Lagos, you get value for your services but, ESL can make you love teaching even more. You might even get your first international trip through ESL because opportunities are everywhere.
You'll learn a lot, and I promise you won't regret joining. Invite friends, colleagues, neighbors - especially teachers! Don't be stuck this year; spread your wings like an eagle and hunt for your daily bread without without being a burden on others. 😊. You're smart, educated, and that's all you need.
I could have paid facebook to advertise this, but I really needed you to see this because this is a gift. After this class, the next one comes with a huge prize, so don't miss it! You can't teach online and still struggle financially, I promise!Click the link in the comments to join now!

📌Paying for ESL training about six months ago has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Imagine working with students from different parts of the world. Just one client can recommend 10 more till you run out of schedule 😆.
🙂The flexibility of working from anywhere, as long as there’s a stable internet connection and a quiet environment, is a huge plus.
🤷🏽♀️What to teach? Don’t worry, you are not teaching advanced topics like phrasal verbs or complex literary analysis, just simple grammar, tenses, verb forms, pronunciation, and confidence development, as you are mostly teaching beginners in the English language.
🥰Pay-wise? It’s varied, from $30-50 per hour, depending on experience and the type of teaching. Some tutors charge more for specialized lessons, like business English or exam preparation. For me, it’s been decent.
😍Now, imagine having just 5 steady clients, which is extremely possible, as there’s a ton of demand for ESL tutors worldwide.
🤷🏽♀️Who can teach ESL?: Anyone with clear, fluent English speaking skills, but you just need to be trained. That’s why I’ll be training just 20 people on:
- How to obtain an internationally recognized ESL certification
- ESL curriculum
- ESL lesson formation
- ESL slides preparation
- How to get ESL clients
- ESL-related Canva designs and translation
